Is there consensus about paying OOP for CRT?

I have read many threads that recommend paying for CRT OOP when on the DDP. Our breakfast in November was billed to my CC this month for about $180. We are a party of 2 adults, 1 child who is billed as an adult, and another child.

Do to making this ressie on-line, my CC was billed but CM said I could get a credit when we dine if we tell our waiter we want to use our credits. I had already planned to pay OOP for our meal at 50's PTC, but when I got the CRT ressie DH said to just pay for the CRT meal and use credits at 50's and then book another meal. I made a ressie at Yak and Yeti, another place we wanted to eat.

Now I'm trying to figure out if it really is best to pay OOP for CRT or not? Is there a consensus on this?

Thanks for your help everyone.:goodvibes

I don't know if there's a consensus, but it worked to our advantage to pay OOP for this meal when we went.

I recommend you do so just so you'll keep that Yak and Yeti ADR! I LOVED that place!!!!

I know when you pay on the DDP your tip is included. Is it included when you pay OOP as well? If so, then I can see how OOP is better than DDP. Even at the dinner price. Anybody else?

Can someone elaborate on this a little more as to why it's a better deal to pay OOP for this meal. For us it would be 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant. I'm a little confused. :confused3

People always ask this question since when using DP CRT counts as 2 credits. You have to ask yourself could you use these credits somewhere else and get a better value.

I have eaten at CRT 2x's for breafast with 3 adults and 3 kids both times I paid OOP when on the plan. Good luck and happy planning!

If you use the 2 DDP credits for 2 extra separate meals and pay OOP for CRT, it might actually be a better deal as you get 2 meals out of those credits instead of just one (especially if you have CRT booked for breakfast - breakfast is the least expensive meal there)

Signature restaurants do not maximize dining plan value, because one meal there costs 2 credits per person. Value is typically maximized for TS credits by spending them on 1-credit restaurants.

It depends on whether you would save more buying 2 1 credit meals than you would buying one 2-credit meal. Typically, you will, although a lot of guests on the plan do not want to spend anything OOP so they use the 2 credits if they want to go to a signature.

While food quality is a subjective point, it's also generally pointed out that CRT costs 2 credits because of the atmosphere, not because of the food - the food is not what might typically be thought of as 2-credit food.
