Is there anything wrong with asking for an extra plate?

I've read that there is no sharing of meals allowed on the DDP. I also see that the kid's dining options are pretty limited. While the DDP will probably work for my DD6, DS8 is a little more adventuresome, with a lot bigger appetite than his younger sister. However, DD11 is of course, considered an adult. Is there anything wrong with asking for an extra plate for DS8 if DD11 can't finish her plate? For instance, we're planning on lunch ressies at Liberty Tree Tavern. I've read that the portion sizes are huge. If DS8 orders his mac & beef lunch, and DD11 orders pot roast and is unable to finish, is there anything wrong with ordering an extra plate (empty) for him so he can essentially share (finish) his sister's pot roast?

Taking that scenario one step further, the kids could eat any adult meal then, as long as they order their own kids meal. Just because they order it, I guess it doesn't matter who eats it, right?

Yes. My h and I go out to eat. I rarely finish my plate of food. He finishes it or I take it home for lunch the next day. I paid for it, it is mine...what are the going to do, serve it to another customer or give me my money for the portion I did not eat? JMHO Now if it was something like the refill mugs, I would not share with someone or bring my mug back from the previous year. JMHO, everyone has their own, of course.

As long as everyone in your party is on DDP, you shouldn't have any problem sharing. A lot of people do that just to sample items someone else at the table is ordering. You won't find any "Sharing Police" making sure everyone eats only off their own plate.

You may get a variety of answers on "...an extra plate." Generally, I would not expect it to be an issue, but it is up to the policy of the individual restaurant, the manager on duty, and the server...so you could hit an occasional snag. But that still wouldn't stop you from sharing the food.

The thing the servers and managers are really trying to prevent is not sharing, but "treating" -- meaning using DDP credits to purchase meals (or parts of meals) for people who are not DDP participants. Those folks did not pay rack rate for their onsite room, did not buy a park ticket, and did not purchase DDP or get it free as a part of a package. The restaurants will not allow those people to be "treated" in any form.

Your OP doesn't sound like that's your intent and you should have no problems sharing food among legitimate DDP participants.

If you have 3 A and 2 C on your keys to the world and you order 3 A and 2 C meals for the 3 people over 9 and two people under 9 sitting at your table, Disney shouldn't really be worried what happens next. I would even go as far as to say if DD11 wants to order off the kids menu and DS8 wants to order off the regular menu, you could switch their meals completely.

We went Aug. 10-20, there were 3 of us and usually ordered 2 meals and asked for a extra plate, we had no problem at all.
