Is there any way around the deposit?

Okay, I have a quote of a little over $2,000 for a family of 5 to go on our disney Cruise. The deposit will be $800 (not including DS who is 13 months old now but 2.5 at the time of travel)

To be honest, this is the only thing holding us up to book the reservation. Will Disney or any TA work with you on the deposit? Cause we may have to just to forgo the cruise and do a land only?:(

Not really. You can ask your TA for assistance if they can offer any. My TA always put the deposit on the corporate card and then we paid the full amount at final payment, but we had been working with her for a long time so it was more like a friend fronting the money than a buisness relationship.

Other than that the deposit is the only way to hold the reservation, no way around that that I know of.

The deposit secures your place on the cruise as well as locks in the price. I do not know of any way around it. Maybe use one of the credit cards that have very low interest rate or something.

Pretty much any cruise or resort reservation is going to require a deposit when you book...

Sadly I have never heard of Disney or a TA working with anyone on the deposit. What I have heard of is booking the reservation for fewer people than are actually going, and then adding the remaining people later. However, be aware that if you leave any children off the ressie when you book, you may not be able to add them later, as DCL restricts the number of kids allowed on board due to capacity controls on the kids programs.

Book yourself and the children and add your wife and youngest later. I believe you can add people to ressie. As long as you saved a place for the kids that would be using a club you should be alright. Not sure if it will work, but worth looking into.

If I am not mistaken, if you add a person latter to you room, you may be charged the current fare rather than the fare you booked using early booking savings.

You can charge your deposit to your Disney VISA and you'll have six months to pay it off, interest free. You only need to pay the minimum due (2 percent of balance) each month.

We booked our trip through AAA travel and they only require a $25 per person deposit. The rest isn't due until the final payment. I don't know if all AAAs have the same deal, but that's how it is in Missouri.

jestocoast, are you serious?:Pinkbounc Can you please give me the number of the one in Missouri, I am in Georgia but I will book through them that is how desperate I am.

The AAA down here in Naples Florida is $200 per person or $250 for the 7 night. They follow the same guidelines that DCL does. I"m surprised to hear that your AAA differs as I though it was DCL that set the deposit guidelines down.

They call it the cruise travel bank, or something, so I can only assume they have a deal with DCL (doesn't sound likely based on your info) or they front your deposit for you and collect later (which would be really cool of them). Either way, I liked the offer!

No problem. I replied to the PM a while ago. Let me know if it didn't go through.

I didn't include the Missouri AAA info since I don't know if they can serve anyone out of their territory, but you can call them at 314-523-7350 as a last resort.

I know when you book a group cruise through certain agencies they only require a $25.00 person deposit for rooms that hold 2....rooms for 3 or 4 require the standard $200.00-$250.00 per person.

Maybe AAA booked you through group space they have.

Be careful if this is the route you take...When I worked at DCL (reservations) there were times when we could not add people to reservations or put familys of 4 into a room that clearly slept 4 because of lifeboat capacity. Even though the rooms have a bedding capacity, each lifeboat station has a max capacity, which is different because they don't expect to have every bed filled. If they reach the lifeboat capacity for a certain muster station they will not allow anymore people in the section (even if you are trying to add people to an already existing reservation).

I like your AAA agency! I went to AAA yesterday and they quoted me "$200 per person" for deposit. "$25 for service fee." I am wondering if the TA you went to knows what she/he is saying. How much is the service fee? $200?

When we first started cruising...I thought it was so pricy for the deposit. I checked RCCL about 8 months ago...and there is even more! Disney is actually one of the lower ones out there.

If you are unable to make the deposit. Maybe you should change your cruise date...or book at a later time. :( If only money grew on trees!
