Is there any reason to get the TIW card w/ DDxP?

We are going on our first trip with DVC this Aug. We will also be getting annual passes and the deluxe dining plan for our 10 day visit. (with a return trip within the year)

I am wondering if there is any reason to get the Tables in Wonderland card on top of all of that. We are looking forward to having alcoholic beverages with our meals, and I didn't know if I could pay for those with the TIW card, while still taking advantage of the ddxp for the rest of the meal.

Any advice?

If you are going to spend more than $375 in alcoholic beverages alone, then you would realize a discount with the TIW card. ($375 is the amount needed to offset the membership fee on an annual passholder membership. That amount is higher on a Florida resident membership).

Do you also plan to get a dining plan on your return trip? If not you could use the TIW on that trip for food as well.

We were not planning to get the dining plan on our return trip, so I guess it makes sense to get the TIW card now - provided I can stack the ddp and the tiw card within a single transaction.

Do you know if this is doable? Can I use my DDxP credits for our meal and get the discount for our drinks at the same time?

yes, it is doable. As any alcoholic beverages you order will be on a separate check from your dining plan order, you can apply TIW to that check.

Also remember if you have a car you can valet park when you dine at the resorts. We used the valet 6 times ($72) our last visit.

As the PPs have said, the only time it would make sense to get the TIW card with the DxDP is if you plan to order a lot of items not covered by the DxDP (like alcholic drinks). We got the TIW with the regular DDP last year and was able to use it for all drinks and OOP meals/items.

With regards to valet, you get complimentary valet (you still need to give the tip) when you dine at a resort and use the TIW card for any part of that meal. So if you pay for the entire meal using DxDP, you cannot just show the TIW card and get free valet.

We always order a drink or glass of wine with dinner so I was able to use the TIW card for valet without any problem.

We used it once for breakfast (we only used DDP) and didn't pay for valet.
