Is there any point in trying for November or December at this point?

Some of the PR hype around the 50th anniversary is to make it SEEM like there is big demand. Most times we have gone in the past, they were always celebrating something. Marketing does that to generate interest, nothing wrong with that but doubt that alone would have a large impact on openings. Many are still cautious about covid, so likely they wait until the 30 day window to cancel an existing reservation without penalty. I believe some construction is going on at certain Disney properties and/or all have not yet reopened to full occupancy which can impact availability.

I've been checking periodically, and I'm definitely seeing some stuff open now. Of course, now it's only the SUPER expensive hotels, lol. No way am I booking $500-1,000 a night hotels for this trip :). However, I am seeing random Pop Century days show up here and there, so I can probably get in at SOME point... I'm just not sure if I want to. I might just wait until January or something (I see Expedition Everest is gonna be down for ages near the beginning of 2022 so I might not want to go in Spring).

U.K. is only a small percentage of the market, but lots of people seem to be holding onto flights/reservations hoping that international travel will be allowed. So far BA and Virgin have only cancelled flights to MCO up to around 10 October 2021. UK school holidays cover two weeks from around 23 October and then many schools finish for a 2/3/4 week break over Christmas from around 11 December 2021. Keep watching for cancellations.

We're set to go back for New Years Eve.
My problem isn't that we don't have a room, just not the one i want.. (i know first world problem)

I would prefer this to be more of a staycation and we're right in the heart of it at the Poly.

Replying to my own post bc i had settled on a room on the room at the Poly. Not that there is anything wrong with it, as i had mentioned above I wanted more of a staycation. I randomly checked a couple days ago and was able to get a room at my preferred resort, Wilderness Lodge.
So don't give up!!

Hm, I am noticing a lot of local hotels are still available with tons of room. Except the new Extra Magic Hours rules will be applying by then, which makes non-Disney resorts a sure route to vastly longer lines. That's a real kick in the teeth for those other resorts, I would think.

Another weird thing is that the "Reserve a Park" thing is still open for every park, every day in November. So people are booking hotels but not buying tickets or reserving parks yet?
While it’s showing availability at all parks in November currently, if you’d looked a while back you would have seen some parks unavailable. It appears they went in and added more availability. Same thing happened with October 1st at magic kingdom a number of times.

haha, nice- finally saw Art of Animation (little mermaid) open for the duration of the time I booked off. I snapped that up in a hurry and laid down my deposit. The only downer is that I'm coming in the Monday and leaving the next, so I miss the 11-12 hours for EPCOT (my fave park now that Frozen is there). Ah well- I can probably get a date changed after the fact since there might be something opened up.

Looks like there's a bunch of COVID protocols for Canadians to follow as well, so I've got some more researching to do.
