We just decided to take a trip to Disney on November 28-December 5. We want to try renting DVC points this time if at all possible. Our dream would be Bay Lake Tower or Grand Floridian simply for convenience. Is there any chance of that really happening? We are obviously very new to the DVC world but I'm crossing my fingers!

Of course, there is! I would contact David's Vacation Club rentals and let him handle it for you. You might not be able to get BLT or VGF because that is a very popular time for DVC members. As long as you are flexible, you shouldn't have a problem.

Your chances for BLT or VGF are, IMO, slim. You should be able to get something at one of the larger resorts though (Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, or Animal Kingdom Lodge).

Thanks for your help! So I'm assuming my next step would be to contact a service like David's DVC Rental and pay them to check resort availability? Can they put me on a wait list as well?

I've never done this, but I have a friend currently trying to get BLT/VGF for Christmas/NYE.

She emailed him the dates and resorts/rooms and people traveling. They are put on a waiting list. I can tell you right now that they have no reservations bc there's not enough BLT/VGF points. So it's a waiting game when 7mon comes around.

Or you can look on the rent/trade boards. If you can't find a BLT/VGF owner, you can line up someone for 7mons.

If you really want to go during that time at those resorts you may have better luck booking a cash reservation. You could still try to put together something with David's or an owner willing to rent you their points. If successful you can cancel the cash booking without penalty, just be aware of their cancellation policy.

This is an extremely popular time for DVC and may well already be booked solid with members. I believe Disney retains 2% of inventory for cash reservations. Can't hurt to try. Good luck!

Good luck at those resorts... I woke up at 5 am PST to book for those very same dates at 11 months for bay lake and VGF my home resorts. I tried back for a second room and Bay Lake is already sold out for most nights and VGF only has one bedroom lake view left. There are still rooms at AKL and BWV
