Is there any advantage to checking in early on site via app?

Staying at GCH in Woods/Ctyd room. We arrive tomorrow morning. I know I can check in now, but I'm reluctant just because I like knowing where they're putting me before I agree to my room. On the other hand, it might be nice to know and if I don't like the location I assume I can still go to the desk to request to change it? I'm not picky about that except that I don't want something a mile from an elevator. Anyone have opinions about early check in? Thanks.
