Is there an iPhone speaker/dock that can do this?

My parents have an iPhone 4s that they share. My dad's main complaint is that the ringtones are not loud enough (age 70 and probably needs a hearing aid, but refuses. oh well)

They saw my speaker dock, and decided that it would be great to have to amplify the ringer. However, while I can play music loudly, when you call my phone on the dock it doesn't ring any louder than normal.

Is there such a thing? Either a dock or portable speaker that would make the ringer louder? They are only here another week or so (live 2000 mi away) and I would love to get them one before they leave.

We have a Bose docking station and it does amplify the ringtone (a lot!). They sell them at best buy, but they aren't cheap. Think we paid about $400 for it. You might be able to find a used one cheaper for the iPhone 4/4s though, the new ones are bluetooth.

weird, my iphone sends all songs through the speakers(Logitech), even ringers and txt ringers...

what about changing to an annoying ringtone that is loud?

Not that I know of, but it shouldn't be all that difficult to create a fix for them.

I don't have an iPhone, but I've done it with my Android phone as I'm hard-of-hearing. The way that you do it is to download a ringtone-maker app to your computer (CNET has free ones), then edit an audio file to jack up the volume and add it back to the phone as your ringtone. Google "loud ringtone for iPhone" and you'll get plenty of simple instructions.

As someone hard-of-hearing, my preference for the best attention-getter ringtone is an old-fashioned Bell telephone ringer. For older folks, especially, that sound cuts through the aural clutter because that sound is so connected in our minds to what a ringing phone sounds like. Anything else might be mistaken for a sound coming from the TV or from outside, etc., but if your brain catches even a whiff of that old Bell phone sound, it tells you "your phone is ringing, go answer it!!"

The Creative-Commons-licensed Freesound Project has a page with plenty of old-fashioned telephone sound effects that you can use to do this: http://www.freesound.org/search/?q=telephone

Find a sound file of R2D2 screaming. It is the loudest, most attention-getting ringtone I have ever heard.

I originally had it on my R2D2 Droid 2 and when I replaced the phone I found it online by doing a google search.

It does not have to be anything labelled as a ring tone. Most any sound file will work.

I made my own of R2 "talking" at SWW a couple years ago. :thumbsup2

A friend of mine somehow set her Iphone to light up when it rings - almost strobe like. She likes it because it shows up in her deep dark purse. I don't have an Iphone so I don't know the settings but maybe that would help them out too.

OK just googled it -

I agree! I have the same one & when my phone is in there & rings it is really LOUD!! lol

I'll second the Bose, mine is really loud when the phone rings! I usually have the volume off, but if I forget, it scares me to death. I can't use my sounddock anymore though, iPhone 5 doesn't fit. It cost so much, and works so good, I hate to sell it, so it just sits there. : (

You can get an adapter, that will hook up your 5 to the dock. It won't sit the same in the dock, but ou can still listen to the music that way and it's cheaper than buying a new Bose system.
