Is there a way to pay for friend's dinner?

If my friend is at WDW & I'm home, is there anyway to pay for their dinner? I will know where they are eating, in advance. Not sure if there is a way to contact restaurants directly. Maybe contact hotel front desk to make payment & have my friend charge to room?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Thank you for your response. You are probably right.
I will think of something else to do for them.

I think there are services that offer baskets, etc that can be delivered to the room. Someone here would know about them.
The reason that I doubt you could pay a meal is that a while back I tried to have a specific gift purchased and sent to my son in law but the CM's were not allowed to take the CC info and shop. I know that when staying Club Level the IPO used to be able to shop but I am not sure they are still allowed to do so.

All personal opinion - I'm not right, no one else is wrong......

THIS is actually a DAMN GOOD QUESTION. There are times my wife and I would actually like to CALL a WDW Restaurant, give 'em a Ressie number, give 'em our CC number, and just say "Bill US". Don't even need a TIW discount - as we are clearly not there :).

Nope, this would be for a dear CM friend, between trips. One USED to be able to do this sort of thing with most fine restaurants... :).

So, I'm confused. It clearly makes money for WDW, makes everyone happy.... and they have no way to actually DO this?

Again - All personal opinion - I'm not right, no one else is wrong...... SOMEONE is asleep at the switch. "Gifting" a really good dinner at a SIG - even with an "Event Charge" - is low hanging Fruit :).

I would be curious what you find out if you call the hotel they are staying at and ask to purchase a gift card to have waiting at the front desk for them. I assume it is a Disney restaurant and not one in DTD that might do email gift cards but mentioning it in case.

It sounds nice, but I think it's likely they don't want to do this for the ease of CC fraud.

My last hotel stay at the beach I tried to call and pay the reservation ahead of time and they wouldn't allow it.

Last spring, a friend sent me a gift card via Disney's florist and it was delivered to my room with a balloon. It was for my birthday, but they would probably just deliver a gift card that way. There was a nice card that specified it was to celebrate for dinner. That friend knows relatively little about WDW so I'm sure she just called WDW and told guest services what she wanted and was probably just transferred. Disney loves making magic for guests, so I would try it with a gift card!!!

I've ordered a cake for a friend's family and called Disney Floral and Gifts (407-939-4438) to have a gift card sent to them at their resort.

My son celebrated his 18th birthday during his senior trip at WDW. My wife called guest services and they filled a small soft side cooler with candy and other treats, she paid for it over the phone with our cc. By the way, one of his friends mentioned his birthday in the food court at the hotel and the whole food court (like 120 people) sang him Happy birthday ! That's the Disney spirit !

Thank you all for your responses.

No luck with paying for dinner.

Called restaurant directly and they couldn't do it.

Tried to call resort directly, but it is really a call center. Even though I had the guests names, address, phone number, resort room number, no one could help me.

Glad you figured something out. I was going to suggest sending something to the room. A few years ago we sent chocolate covered strawberries to my brother in-law/sister in-law when they stayed at Animal Kingdom

I'm surprised they couldn't help you. You used to be able to put a credit on a person's room so when they charged back to the room, it would be covered by the credit. Maybe you can't do it anymore.

That's what I thought, but everyone I talked to said they couldn't help me.

In the future, I will buy a gift card & give it ahead of time.

I worked as podium staff at a Signature, and on occasion we would be able to take credit card info to pay for a meal. The management was in charge of it, and regular staff couldn't take the sensitive information, but I saw it happen in person several times. Maybe it's different over the phone, but if you manage to contact the restaurant managers directly, I bet they would be accommodating.

Saddened - Disney has no way to accomplish this kind act. Confused, as they appear to be turning away MONEY.
Just me - I thought they WANTED Money :). I was clearly wrong :).

If they have a Disney gift card or can purchase one for the minimum amount, you can use disneygiftcard.com to transfer funds from your gift card onto theirs, if they can share with you their gift card info.
