Every time I do a search for a reservation and it's booked I look down and get excited... Only to realize they keep putting Saratoga springs up as available. I don't want to stay at saratoga.
I understand putting kidani instead of jambo... Or beach instead of boardwalk... But stop putting Saratoga up! That's the one I'm trying to replace where I'm stuck now!

I doubt it. I think most members would want the system to show all available options, rather than simply "Not Available" adding a specific filter would be somewhat of a pain, given all the various booking categories at the different resorts.

And how awful to be stuck at any resort at WDW. :rotfl2:

I just did an experiment, checking availability for a Standard View studio at BWV for Columbus Day weekend (selected specifically because I expected it would not be available and wanted to see what it would offer me instead). The search results included BWV Std view, BWV Pool/Garden view, BWV BW view, and BCV. Out of all of those, only one (BWV Pool/Garden view) had one night available. The rest were sold out. It did not show me SSR, even though most of my nights are available there.

Did a search for a studio for the same dates at VWL and got four results: 1. VWL, 2, 3 and 4 for BLT's three views.

Did the same search for AKV and got four results, all at AKV.

Tried again at OKW. The first two results were for OKW (1. studio, 2. studio near HH), the third result was for SSR, the fourth was for a 1BR at OKW.

It seems to me that it suggests other resorts in the same area as the resort you have requested. What are you requesting that it keeps offering you SSR?

OK, I finally managed to get it to offer me SSR. When I put in dates and a room type where few or none of my nights were available at the requested resort but all of my nights were available at SSR, it offered SSR as a second choice.

That seems reasonable. Rather than make the user search every resort in turn, it shows you that you can book your entire stay somewhere, even if it is not at or near the resort you requested.

I wish you could just put in a date range and a room type without selecting a resort. I would like to see all resorts that are available during within my date range and then select it. Obviously, this type of search would have to be programmed to work when the date range is less than 7 months from the current date, but it does not seem like something that would be difficult to do.

I think it's because the ones they show you get a hold put on them for 20 minutes.

I think it only puts a 20-minute hold on something if you actually select it to begin the booking process.

I was on the phone with MS last week, and asked if they had that capacity, and she said no, but she said she had a way to check availability pretty quickly. I agree it would be much easier to plug in the dates and see all inventory, but there must be a method to their madness....right?? :rotfl2:

Honestly, I just love being able to check availability whenever I feel like it, of course, it is more enjoyable when my first choice is there!

When are you trying to book? It may be all that is available.

I have been on websites that have a countdown clock for making a selection. DVC should be able to employ this type of software technology. Most of the time, it does not take very long to change the search parameters with the current system, but it should not be that hard to search the entire DVC-WDW collection at under 7 months and see all that is available. Given how well the wi-fi works in the DVC villas (:sad2:), I will not be holding my breath!

I am just thrilled to have what it does, period. We waited a long time for it.
