Does it help to have your trip paid for earlier or do the docs just arrive close to your departure date? I don't like waiting until the last minute on anything.

I think they have a normal time cycle, so it doesn't matter how early you book. If you book last minute, of course, that's a different story.

I paid mine before the due date and just got them today. I don't like waiting till the last minute either but now that they're here I'm wondering what the rush was. :p It does make it feel more official though, but in the end, unless you're waiting for your cabin assignment, it's really not as big of a deal as I thought it would be. Hang in there!!

You get the docs about 2 weeks before the cruise, and you really don't need them until you get to the port (except the luggage tags).

I'm sure DCL has timed the shipping of the docs such that there is plenty of time for you to recieve the docs even if there is a shipping delay, but yet they don't send them so early that people routinely stash them away and forgot what they did with them.

Tell DCL you will be out of town for the few weeks before the cruise and they will get them to you a little earlier (we were on business trips and vacation for two weeks before our last cruise and we received our docs about 1 month early.

I guess I forgot to mention that I booked my cruise with Expedia. I keep hearing that some people have not received their docs and they are leaving in a week. That scares me. I thought there were a lot of papers to fill out. If is wasn't for this website, I think I would be freeking out!

Thanks.

Has anyone had any luck getting their docs earlier? I've been able to do that with some tour operators, I don't think I've had to ask any cruise lines for docs early.

We're doing DCL for our honeymoon next year, but we're getting married in Las Vegas and then will be at DL for the 50th before we actually get to WDW. I'd sure like to have to docs in hand before we leave!

God luck getting your docs from Expedia.

We actually had to get another set fromDCL sent out next day air to get them in time.

I used DU this time.

You CAN request your docs earlier..just call DCL. They don't "guarantee", but ours came 6 wks before our cruise...we gave the trip to our children for Christmas, and we wanted to be able to gift wrap the docs, since we didn't leave until the end of January. We had them by mid-December. Another friend did the same thing, and she had NOT booked through DCL, but still got them in time to give to her DD for her 10th b'day. As long as you've payed (and you have to by that time  )they generally try to accomodate you. Best of luck!

Thanks for all the tips and information.

I'm still thinking of how jealous I am of krhardy's children. Why didn't I get a christmas gift like that? WOW! How nice.

I booked thru All Season Travel, does anyone know how quickly you get your documents when you book thru them??? Our cruise is May 22. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
