Is there a time DME stops operating?

My friend's flight is coming in at 11:15 PM. Will there be service available for her and her family?

Thanks.

The only thing they need to decide is if they want to take their luggage with them instead of letting DME deliver it to them later.

Thank you both :thumbsup2

I did remind her that because she's arriving so late, she'd want to take her luggage with her on the bus so she wouldn't have to stay and wait for it.

Is DME permanent now? or is there an end date?

DME has hours, but those hours are extended to accomodate passengers on late night (early am) flights and to accomodate passengers with very early am return reservations.

Make sure DME has your flight number if you're taking a late flight.

If we were arriving that late, I would want DME to deliver our bags the next morning, rather than having to deal with them ourselves that night.

We would have carry-ons with everything we need overnight (including tooth powder). We would go directly from the arrival gate to the DME Welcome Center. We would not waste any time going to and from baggage claim and waiting for our bags to emerge on the conveyor. We would not have to deal with our bags (except for our little carry-ons) at the airport or at the resort. We would be on the first motorcoach to our resort, rather than risking the very real chance of being on a later motorcoach. The next morning, our bags would be delivered, with Disney paying the inbound tip.

I realize that some people don't agree with me on this.

HH I'd agree if the guest was staying in a deluxe or even a moderate resort. My understanding is it can take up to an hour for luggage delivery, after you call, at a value resort. Some guests might want access to their checked luggage before leaving for the day, particularly with the new rules.

In that case I'd either get my own luggage or let them delivery the bags in the middle night, even if they wake me up. Less of an issue if I was going to have breaksfast in the food court first.

The resort "calls" you when your luggage arrives. The phone doesn't ring but you get a light that you have a message. If you are awake and want your luggage delivered, they will deliver it then.

If you arrive at Orlando after about 10 PM at least one person in your party should report to the Magical Express welcoming area first, even if you plan to or need to get baggage at the carousel and need to backtrack to do so. This prevents DME from sounding the all clear and stopping for the night.

Actually DME can get any and all baggage most of the time even if you did not put a yellow tag on it. In rare instances you may have to go back and get baggage including yellow tagged baggage from the carousel late at night but if this happens buses will still be running or waiting for you.

Pop Century actually has the fastest average DME luggage delivery time.

I think it is that it take about an hour to get to your resort. It took my family at little less than that from the time off the to WL & they got their luggage. The luggage takes about 3.

What lewisc said had nothing to do with DME. He said that values don't have true Bell Services, they have Luggage Assistance. Bell Services at the Deluxes and Moderates is an on-demand service. Luggage Assistance at the Values is done on a schedule, and usually takes about one hour to get done AFTER YOU CALL to have it done (such as when checking out).

I'd expect POP would be fast, since it's the closest resort to MCO. My question is what happens if a guest has the resort hold the luggage until the next morning. At 8:00am they call and ask to have their luggage delivered. How long would the guest typically wait at POP vs CSR vs GF? My understanding is POP has hourly scheduled service vs on demand.

I'd like to know this, too, since we may be doing the same thing and having our luggage held.

By that, I meant that once the luggage arrives AT the resort, Pop has the best turnaround time on getting that luggage up to a room. But yes, they also probably GET the luggage quickest, too :)

Luggage Assistance does work as a scheduled service as you mentioned... Pop runs are typically twice per hour... although, it's been several years since I've been a dispatcher, so they might run things a bit differently now.
