Is there a space advantage to booking a Cat6 that sleeps 4 vs. 3??

Hi:sunny:

I know the rooms are basically identical with the only difference being that the ones that sleep 4 have the bunk on top. My question here is to those of you who have had one of the rooms that sleep 4 did you find it easier---if you only had 3 in your party---to be able to use the bunk for the 3rd person and not have to make the couch into a bed therefore being able to always have a couch to sit on?? Was just wondering if this would give us more space when the bed was in use?

Also how did your kids do in the overhead bunk?? Our DD is 6 but a very heavy sleeper and is all over the bed at night. I noticed that there is only a very small rail on the bunks. Do they have other bed rails you can use??

Thanks for your help!:D

Personally, I would book a 3 over a 4 because if you are surrounded by other staterooms that sleep 3 vs. four, odds are that it will be quieter (less people in a stateroom = less people around to make noise).

Thanks Barb for your reply.

I should have clarified--my parents will be in the connecting stateroom--maybe6572/6574. I did look on the map and it seems like most of the other rooms around us sleep 3 with the exception of 6568/6570. I know we won't be bothered with the connecting stateroom because of my parents but are you saying we might be from other cabins close by? Was just wondering if we should consider 6568/6570 over 6577/6574---mostly because the last time we sailed we had 6072/6074 with the extra bunk but we did'nt use it because I thought DD was too young and would fall out. This time I wondered if it would be beneficial to get the one that slept 4 like the time we cruised in 2001 and use the bunk for the bed therefore allowing us to use the couch at the same time. Thanks for everyone's thoughts!

I may be wrong, but I also wonder if it allows for a better chance of being upgraded. On our cruise we were booked in a room that fit 4. There were only 3 of us and we were upgraged from a 10 to a 7. I may be wrong, but I think one of the reasons was because they needed the room for 4 people and had a room for 3 available. Maybe I'm wrong though.

When that bunk is down in the sleeping position, you'll find it very hard to sit on that bottom couch one. You'll hit your head. Also the only time it is down is in the evening when the steward comes in to make up your room for sleeping.

Personally since you're only three, I'd take the room for three.

Also, I'm wondering if Disney will even let you pick a room for 4 when it is only three of you. Then they can't sell that room to 4 people and make the extra couple of $$$ not to mention if it is not avialble then a family of 4 is shut out of the cruise since if the only room left is a room for 3.

I just read Deltz reply and I think she might be onto something about the upgrade. Again my thoughts of needing the room that actually sleeps 4 for another group of guests.

Normally, if there are 2 or 3 of you, they try to place you in a cabin that sleeps 3. We specifically request one that sleeps 4 as DD wants the bunk bed. In several instances, we had to "fuss" at DCL toward the sailing date, as they initially refused to "block" a 4 person cabin for fewer than 4 people.

The only advantage/disadvantage is the bunk bed. As to upgrades, we've been upgraded 3 times....it really is a matter of what sells and when you sail.

How can you tell which rooms are 3 and which rooms are 4. We are booked in 7008. My DD LOVES the Bunk bed. It was one of her favorite things about our first cruise. She was only 3 at the time and didn't have a problem. She called it the "Magic" bed because it came out of the ceiling. Gotta' love 3 year olds!

Does anyone know if 7008 is a 3 or 4 person cabin?

According to the passporters guide room 7008 is a 4 person stateroom so I would imagine it has the pull down bunk.

Hope this helps
