The song "I Want to Come Over" by Melissa Ethridge. The part that says "To hell with the consequence" my brother thought she said "To hell with the CONCERT PLANS"

And the song Kyrie by Mr. Mister. The part that says Kyrie Eleison my DH thought they were saying CARRY A LASER

One night, at my friends house, we were listening to all different kinds of songs. My friend was signing along, quite loudly, and one of the songs that popped on the ipod was the theme song to the tv show, The Jefferson. There is this one line in that song that says:

As long as we live, it's you and me baby
There ain't nothing wrong with that.

And my friend sang, at the top of her lungs:

"Long sweet lips, chewin' me baby!"

I nearly peed my pants.

A couple years ago Dh and I were driving somewhere and heard "We're all alone" (old 70's song, there were versions by both Rita Coolidge and Boz Scaggs) on the radio. Dh was singing along and I heard him say "Close the window, calm the light". I corrected him and said it isn't "Calm the light" it is "Come alive". And he said, "Uh...no it isn't.". We went back and forth a while and sure enough ...he was right.

I had been singing the wrong words for almost 30 years.

Ok this is not the lyrics to a song but from a commerical. DH just recently "enlightened" me on the Allstate commerial with the guy who's always talking about if you get in the accident what Allstate insurance will do for you. Well at the end of every commerical when he says That's Allstate's Stand, I could have sworn he was saying That's Allstate, STAN! And it didn't make sense until I asked DH who Stan was. After laughing hysterically for about 15 min., he told me what he was really saying.

It took me forever to figure out that he was saying stand in stead of Stan. I was like you I kept thinking who in the heck was Stan and what does he have to do with Allstate.
