Is there a slow day?

Dh and I are contemplating a trip to Hawaii this year. We are from Washington DC, so we will most likely have to have a layover somewhere. I was thinking perhaps having an overnight (or 2) layover at LAX and spending a day or two at DL. Is there a slower day? Tuesday-thursday, I assume? We are thinking late April/ early May, so after spring break, but before schools get out.

Your time frame is a slow time of year. And if you go midweek Tue-Thurs that will be pretty slow.

However...

Make sure you understand what that means because it means something different at DLR vs. WDW. I would suggest you think about going over a weekend at that time of year. But it really depends on what you want. If slow is what you want, you may get more than you bargained for. Or you may get exactly what you want. Study up and then ask questions. :)

Awesome thread link! Thanks! I am a WDW passholder (despite living so far away), but I have no experience with DL. We've toyed with visiting off and on, but that new ipad app really has us wishing to see the rides that I expect DL people find boring (such as the Storybook boats, which is oddly at the top of my list! :rotfl:)

I havent even researched the entertainment, so I dont even know if it is a priority! Guess I have some homework to do if we really want to do this! :lmao:

Yes, please do some research regarding entertainment. For example, most people feel the Aladdin show is of "Broadway Caliber". There is nothing of this quality at WDW, at any of the four parks. I'm serious, nothing. Also, many feel that World of Color tops any of the night-time shows at WDW (providing you get a nice spot for viewing).

DL would certainly make a nice appetizer for your Hawaii visit, sounds like tons of fun!

THe bummer about slow time, we just got back, is they don't offer all the entertainment. We went this week tues, wed and thurs. There were NO fireworks...though we caught the parade and Magic and memories and you show against the castle which was AWESOME. We also caught world of color one night with a not spectacular view...but what we saw was amazing...we were in the center, though in back of people, so couldn't see all the water. We live in GA and my in laws are in Cali so we go when we visit and splurged on 3 days this year...what a blast! I have heard during the week is the best and i will say we had VERY little wait times! DL is similar to WDW but smaller with some GREAT rides not offered - Indiana Jones, Matterhorn and some that are offered that are quite frankly better IMO Pirates, IASM.

If you are a fan, I say go for it, just to experience the original Disney. DL is about 30 minutes or so from LAX.....There are lots of options for Neighbor hotels within walking or you can stay at a DL resort.

Enjoy your trip!
