Is there a shuttle from WDW to port in Miami and back?

We are doing a five day Magic cruise next March and I will be travelling alone with three teen girls. We need transportation from Orlando and back but I am not finding much. I don’t want to drive as I am not from the US and don’t know the area at all. I was surprised how high flight prices were. I have Manitur, but they don’t pick up or drop off at the port and Mears is only a private car which works out to be about 800 CAD. Are there others?

I know for a fact Disney does not provide one. It is a long drive (about 4 hours when you count traffic) so anything decent is going to cost you.

there are flights between Orlando and Miami nearly hourly ... {it is over 200 miles}

DCL does have shuttle available from MIA to Port of Miami .. or a taxi is $27 flat rate (per car, not per person) ... or UBER

there is a 'luxury' bus

travel time is roughly 5 hours, Orlando (near airport) to Port of Miami

cost varies but typically in the $90 to $100 US range (some times cost less, some discounts for booking multiple seats)

expect some extra costs too as the 'terminal' at the Orlando Airport is not in the airport so there will be a taxi fare ....

MEGABUS is a 'not luxury bus' that can take you city to city for $26 per person .... but add costs to get to/from the terminals by taxi or UBER

flying to Ft Lauderdale or even West Palm Beach cuts your transfer problem down to size. A car from Ft L costs WAY less than from Orlando, and from either place you can take the train and get within a short taxi/uber ride from the port.

Just be aware that MegaBus also is not typically loading and unloading in the best areas in town. At least in NYC, Philly, and DC they load and unload in more sketchy areas than a lot of people (at least on here where someone asking once to buy something is "harassing") would be comfortable with.

this can come back to renting a car and driving

it is pretty much a straight shot on turnpike and interstate .... one good tank of gas ....

I am not a brave driver so that isn’t really an option for me. Flights are very pricey. Very discouraging. Given the number of cruises, I am quite surprised that there arent more options.

Given the distance between WDW and the Port of Miami, I'm not surprised at all at the limited options. Most people cruising from Miami fly into MIA or FLL. Most people flying into Orlando and/or staying at WDW will cruise out of Port Canaveral. Could you change to a 4 night out of PC on the Dream?

This. Because of the distance, most people do not do a Miami-based cruise for a WDW-Sea vacation.

There is lots to do in Miami, though. You could fill the rest of the week with Miami area activities.

We have three days booked at AKL after the cruise and th3 points were borrowed so I can’t cancel. I honestly did not realize the distance between MCO and MIA. I think we will just have to fly into Miami and fly back to MCO after the cruise. Prices have gone up since we booked so the 4 day is now more than the price we paid for a five day.

If the cruise isn’t till next March there is probably more than enough time to wait for flight prices to come down.

I would warn that with intercity bus in the US, allow a LOT of time. Expect the bus to be running late.

Prices on airfare won’t come down. Chances are she is flying down for the spring break in either Ontario or Quebec. Prices go up, and stay up. Based upon our experiences generally more than double in price. There is a reason we buy our airfare the day it is released.

We have done a couple of 5 nighters during that same period out of Miami. We have flown down the day before and right back after the cruise. Other issue OP could run in to is the cost of hotels in Miami if she needs a night there pre-cruise. Again spring break, things won’t be cheap esp factoring in exchange.

Other thing to consider OP is look at flying from FLL to MCO. From FLL you can get Southwest and others which may reduce the cost.

THIS!! We are doing a cruise out of Miami in January and it was MUCh cheaper to fly into FLL vis MIA. Its about 45-60 minutes (from what I read) to the port of Miami but for the cost savings its worth it (including the extra price of a shuttle or car service to get us to Miami).

Thanks. We might look at that. Just booked my flights down and we will fly into Miami and home from Orlando. I have the Comfort Inn booked and in CAD, it is expensive but includes airport and cruise shuttles. I will look into Fort Lauderdale for the MIA MCO part. Now fingers crossed we don’t have a bad winter. As the airport we are flying out of and returning to, is about a two and a. Half hour drive away.

Two words...

Trip. Insurance.

There are a number of shuttle companies doing transfers from the Port of Miami to FLL. We have used SAS quite a bit all with good results (was $15 pp back in March each way).

Since you likely haven’t flown SW before you should be aware the there is no assigned seating. Basically you get on and pick a seat, so getting on early is important if you want to sit together. Since you will be on the cruise checking in to get boarding number 24 hrs in advance will be a problem. You may want to consider EBB (check SW website). Good news taking this route is that you can then use Magical Express from MCO to the resort.
