Is there a "Rope Drop" on EMH mornings?

Hi! We've always gone to The World the first week in March. For our last trip, we utilized the EMH mornings each day. I was looking forward to a true "rope drop", especially at the MK, but we never got to experience one. They may have done something at AK...I do know we were let in the park before the official EMH time. We saw the MK preshow, but they didn't let anyone through the gates until the EMH started. My kids were looking forward to having it happen just like on the Disneyland Fun DVD.

I was just curious if we missed this event because of our time of year (I read that crowds often dictate how far they let crowds in?) or because we used the EMH and they only do this for the regular opening days? Any thoughts?

TIA

There was when I was there. On that day it was at the end of mainstreet just before you get to the hub. Some days, it's at the hub. Some days, they don't let you past the bridge under the train and you get to see the preshow.

I don't think Magic Kingdom does a real rope drop thing anymore. I remember years ago when they used to let you on Main Street about a half hour or so before the park actually opened, you just couldn't go to any of the 'lands', you were held off by the rope. However, the last several times I've been there, they now don't do that anymore, they let you in the turnstiles but you are held outside of the actual park, outside the railroad tracks. A couple minutes before opening time, the train comes in to the Main Street station carrying Mickey and other characters, along with a family who will officially help with the countdown and open the park. There's music and dancing, then they do the countdown and throw streamers and confetti when they get to the end and then the CM's let you into the actual park. I'm not sure about the other 3 parks, as I've gotten there within a few minutes of opening, but never before it actually opened to see how it worked.

The two "big" rope drops are now "cememonies/shows" at MK and DAK.
Both are performed during EMH mornings.
Both shows feature the characters with "speaking roles".
MK: at the trains station (with singing and dancing).
DAK: after your cross the bridge from the "Oasis" (no singing).

Epcot allows guests to "re-group" near Innoventions and CMs "hold" them until scheduled open time, then allow folks to go either way towards Soarin' or Test Track/Mission Space.

MGM allows guests to "re-group" near the Call-Board.
There is a very breif recorded announcement (that "sticks it" to Universal Studios without directly saying so) and then everyone turns RIGHT, and walks quickly to ToT and/or RnRC.

At MK, if you have attended Cindy's Royal Breakfast early, they do have a rope to hold you from FL until "opening time".

At Epcot's International Gateway, there are reports of holding guests at a rope near the UK.

Thank You. It sounds like we haven't missed much since we've always been able to see the little character show (which we all love, by the way). It would have nice to get a little further into MK..to get a head start on the big dash to Dumbo. LOL
