Is there a reason there is no talk of OKW? Are we the only ones staying there?

They said that "that's all that is left". There was NO bell service available and we had no car.

Dizma,
Sorry you had a bad experience.....of course, things like not getting your request can occur anywhere. I've had this happen at the WL.....BWV etc. What time did u check in ? OKW does have Bell Service so not sure what the problem was with having your children carry the luggage to the room. They do have CM's with golf carts available to drive those without cars to their room. We usually have a car, but 2 times we did not and never had any issues.

They wrote down the room #, we walked to our room and the key did not work-apparently the cm wrote down the wrong #. ....So walked back to front desk and hope that there is someone w/1/2 a brain in their skull to do their job correctly. The response from Kim @ the front desk was "everyone makes mistakes".
We've always felt the CM's at OKW were some of the best. We always have received great service and lots of "welcome homes" here. In '02 we were traveling with my mil who was not feeling well from chemo/radiation. We checked-in at 1 pm and our room was not ready. Two CM's saw my mil was a little under the weather. They walked her in to Olivia's (arms around her shoulder) and sat her down at one of the tables. They promptly brought her ginger ale and crackers to help settle her stomach. They sat with her until she felt better. Of course, they didn't even charge her for the soda. I will always remember the kindness and concern they showed my mil that day.
As for the key problem.....I've read of that happening at many resorts. It's not specific to OKW. We checked into BWV in '03 during the height of a severe thunderstorm and BWV was unable to print our keys. We had to be walked up to our room and someone had to remain in the room for 3+ hours until a key could be printed. Stuff happens. We did not hold it against BWV.

I have stayed at OKW at least 6 times over the past 11 years and never had any problems. I see you won't be giving them a second chance and that is ok.....not every resort is for every person. We, personally, happen to love it at OKW

OKW is fantastic. Great room sizes. Great theming, great everything. Go, have a great time and don't worry.

When we checked in we were giving the farthest building away. They said that "that's all that is left". There was NO bell service available and we had no car. So we and our children w/ carry on bags walked in the dark all the way to our room.
First of all, OKW DOES have bell services. Did you perhaps arrive late in the evening after most services are closed? If they said "that's all that is left", then believe it or not, that was probably true. Usually, if you ask for bell services, they will not only take your luggage, but also YOU to the room on one of their little golf car type vehicles.
Our room had not 1, but 4 ac units 4 feet from our headboards. We called the desk they said that they could give us the room upstairs-just walk back for the keys. Four and a 1/2 hours , and 3 phone calls later our luggage arrived. They apparently were taking it to the wrong room.
Okay, now you have me confused...You said there was no bell services, yet they DID bring you your luggage?

It must be nice to be so perfect as to not have EVER written down a number wrong. Unfortunately, I'm not that perfect.
Will we stay there again? ............Not anytime soon.
Good, it'll save lots more room for those of us who love it! :thumbsup2

I expected that there would be those who are quick to flame, but this is just our experience revealed. If you are offended, that is not my intention. We arrived @ 8;pm. There was no one @ the bell desk-just a sign to "go to the front desk". The front desk told us "it's only a 10 minute walk". We have never had such sub standard service @ any of Disney's properties and were quite surprised by our bad luck at OKW. Try not to let someone's honest opinion upset you so much.

I expected that there would be those who are quick to flame,
I don't think anyone is flaming......I know Bell Service operates at 8 pm. I've seen them. Maybe you should have asked (since they didn't offer it) ? I was curious about their exact hours so I called and spoke directly to the OKW front desk who connected me directly with Bell Services. So this is informational for anyone who is unsure about Bell Services at OKW. They operate from 7 am to 11:30 pm. The hours in between they "always" (a direct quote from the Bell CM I spoke with) have an on-call Bell Hop as well as an on-call "runner". And according to the female CM I spoke with, she said we can "always accomodate your needs and get you to your room". So I'm guessing you had a misinformed/novice CM ?

Either way, this is def the rare exception at OKW. I've had isolated less than good service at various resorts over the years. I think sometimes you just run into some not-so stellar CM's and this can happen anywhere .

I'd be upset not to be offered bell services' help. Once, when I checked in to POR at 1:30 am, they offered bell services to take me and my luggage to my room.

Not offended OR upset. I just found your complaints to be a bit unreasonable. Anyone can write down a number wrong. Did you ask about bell services or for help getting to the room? Usually after hours, you can go to the concierge desk, and all your needs will be met, including taking you to your room. The problem is knowing who to ask. Concierge is that who.

Try arriving at the All Stars after 9pm. There is no luggage service and you are offered a cart to haul your own luggage. Granted it's a "value" resort, but I've had better service at cheaper hotels. OKW does have bell service, it doesn't sound like you asked for any.
