Is there a purpose to all the water around disney world at this point?

I saw something today that gators have been spotted in SPLASH MT and frequently at the CS resort.
Of all the rides there, I can't think of any that I have been on more frequently than Splash Mt. And I have stayed at the CS resort.
You have a resort that is primarily designed for families and you have gators all over the place. HELLO? Sorry you guys don;t see a problem with that, I DO. There are plenty of miles for gators to happily live their lives in FL. A theme park resort should not be one of them.
Just ran across this when Googling gators and Disney. It's a thread from right here on the Disboards from 2011 asking about seeing gators on the property. I chose the second page because the first post on that page specifically says, "So that's why we aren't allowed to go in the lakes."

Plenty of sightings, and not many people all that concerned about it at the time. In fact, the thread was started because the OP's kids wanted to see gators in the wild and she was hoping they'd get to see them at WDW.

The thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/do-you-ever-see-alligators-on-wdw-property.2694894/page-2

Other than draining all the water, how are you going to solve that problem?
Move them to the Glades, make an AK exhibit, open up a cajun place with some gator recipes I don;t care but do whatever it takes to seperate gators from families. Splash Mt and the Cs resort are not a gators natural habitat.

How do you propose to keep them out? The traverse dry land - they don't *need* water to travel. The Rivers of America connects to 7 Seas Lagoon, which connects to Bay Lake, etc etc. Look at how much water there is around just MK

There is no possible way for Disney to 100% guarantee that gators will never be in those lagoons, in the parks, or anywhere where there is water. It isn't possible.

If the team could please then come to California and move the earthquakes away I would be most grateful. They are quite dangerous to families visiting Disneyland here.

I agree. Much better to prepare people for what to expect in and around the parks regarding the presence of alligators. I think up until now they sort of didn't want to talk about that. But I'm guessing now they will.

Some seem to be missing my point and intentionally so.
When i see water , I'd like to swim in it or fish in it or water ski in it. Not just look at it. I've seen water before.
If they wanted to reopen the River Country water park, they could not as the water quality is not sufficient for that purpose. same with swimming and water sports. If they wanted to do a sub ride, water quality wouldn't allow that either. Do SOMETHING with that space is my point. If SOME of it has to be water, then put on a fountain show like they do at the bellagio in las vegas. Or put on a pirate show like they had at TI in Vegas. Or put in some gondolas like Venice.
And get the gators out. if people want to see gators, they can go to gator land or go to the everglades.
The original plans had this water designed serving many functions and that has been lost over the years.

Actually I think it's you who is missing a great many points.

And the reasons for river country staying closed is not just a problem of water quality. That's actually easily addressed comparitevly.

Florida is a swamp. The water has to have somewhere to go if you don't want it compromising the structural integrity of buildings. You also need it to support the local ecosystem. Pretty simple.

I can't help but think you are trolling. Have you not read most of this thread? I repeat....this is Fl.... we have water...and Gators....and snakes. You essentially want to change an ecosystem that was there before WDW. I know there was a tragic incident and it was a rare occurrence. If you are afraid of coming to Fl or WDW because we have Gators, go to Vegas.

ETA...and stay away from Gainsville, Fl...many Gators in the Swamp there. Sorry, only Fl people will get that.

Thank you for your answer. In another post someone mentioned not running zig zag so thought I would ask.
I wouldn't run at all unless it is actively chasing you. And odds are, if it's walking on dry land, it's just traveling from one water hole to another and isn't looking for trouble.
Maybe Disney needs more cats...or at least cats like this one:

And then at the end it looked like there were two guard cats. Great video!
