7 months?

And if not a concierge, how about a good Savannah view?

Are all Savannah views equal?

I've got an OKW Grand Villa for late April and am thinking of trying to switch to an AKV concierge if available? Should I try through DVC or should I try a trade on the rent/trade board?

In this situation I feel totally win-win because I am up in the air about whether I even want to try for the AKV when I already have the Grand Villa. Will I feel cooped up at AKV? Will I miss OKW??

I keep putting off calling. I'm already a week into the 7 months and may have killed my chances anyway.

Someone just got one yesterday:

There are no grand villas in concierge, just 2 bedroom lockoffs.

A friend of mine got a 1 bedroom at 7 months for last June (end).

In concierge, you are not guaranteed a savannah view. 3 of the lockoffs have savannah view, 2 pool view. The savannah rooms are not the best views, they are tucked into a corner of the Sunset savannah.

Yes, there is a prayer. I am there in a studio March 17, 18, 19 and then planned to move to VWL for the 20th thru 23rd next year. I called yesterday and there was a studio concierge open for the 20th of March! I grabbed it. Now we have 4 nights on concierge and 3 at VWL. Perfect!

akL concierge 2 bedrooms are not dedicated :confused3 they are all
lock-offs?? Can someone please explain what the difference if any would
be between a dedicate and lock-off (sorry new here).

Also, with the convierge if you get it and wanted to request the "pool view" or" savannah view" can you do it???

A 2BR dedicated can only be used as a 2BR. A 2BR lock-off is actually at studio next to a 1BR with a door in between and can be used 3 ways: as a studio, as a 1BR or unlock the connecting door and use as a 2BR. The AKV concierge units consist of five 2BR lock-offs. This gives the most flexiblity for MS to book units. They can reserve all 5 as 2BRs, or have 3 2BRs and 2 studios and 2 1BRs, etc. depending on demand.

You can make a request for which type of view when booking concierge but it's not a guarantee - and MS should remind you of that as well.

Lockoff 2 bedrooms are a 1 bedroom plus studio, which means the studio side will have 1 queen bed and 1 double sleeper. In a dedicated 2 BR at AKV, there will be 2 queens in the second bedroom.

Savannah view vs pool view is only a request for concierge. When I stayed there with friends in June, we got pool view. We asked the next morning if a savannah view was available, we were able to move. To be honest, it's not the best savannah view.

I was able to book 2 studios for a friend less then 2 weeks out. SHOCK is an understatement! So it is possible. Good luck!

thanks for explaining it everyone...i am shocked that with the amount of extra points the view wouldn't be a little better???

also one more quick question as far as turn down service goes is it just that our do they clean the room everyday???

Only for the AKV concierge rooms, not regular AKV rooms. No turn down service for DVC regular villas.

You get turndown service and Mousekeeping daily when staying on the concierge level. We haven't stayed CL yet but have a reservation for next August. There's a thread about a DISer's recent CL stay called "AKV Review w/ concierge info and PICS". Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1888051

Well, I gave up the OKW Grand Villa and switched to a savannah view 2BR at AK. It was available right off the bat at a little less than 7 months! I was surprised. And it was 98 points less for 6 nights. (I might even add on another night.)

I wait listed the 2BR concierge, but I think I might want to call back and cancel that wait list because the view is a priority for us.

The CM warned about construction noise and mess. Is that a significant factor for the jambo 2BR savannah views??

I hope I don't regret the switch, but I figure nothing ventured, nothing gained. So we'll be at AKV in April. never thought I'd want to stay there but all you AKV aficionados convinced me to give it a try.

So in the end which view did you prefer? The Savannah or the Pool? Just trying to decide if I want to put in a request.
