Is there a place nearby to rent an R.V. or camper?

This will be our first trip after selling camper and we're wondering if we could drive down to Disney area and rent a camper/ R.V. to stay in Fort WIlderness. Has anyone done this?? Is price comparable to All Star (our hotel we'll probably stay at) Thanks

I don't know the RV rental place (try 1-800 rv rent). But as far as cost comparison you will probably pay more to have a camping site, plus the cost of the rental than you would for All Stars. It would depend on the "season" that you are going and the rental rate on your RV/camper.

Then, you have to decide which place to stay out weighs the other. If you eat out every meal then the allstar food courts are convenient. If you like to save $$ by eating in alot, then the camper is the best bet. Then you have to consider what there is to do at each location: allstars, well you have your room and the pool. Fort Wilderness, you can ride your bikes, scooters, go to the campfire program at night, petting zoo, etc.

We stayed at allstars in January and my kids hated it so we went back to FW in May and they were all happy.

We are renting from 1-800-4rentrv and it is costing us about $800 for the week including tax, mileage, and actual cost of the motorhome. We are doing it for the experience and had planned on staying at the WL during our time there. The cost about equals out when you factor in the campground cost. My goal is to stay at all the WDW properties though, so it is worth it. Plus I am getting big bonus points from DH and DD because they LOVE the outdoors.

Thanks for the info! I'll be looking into them shortly. Believe it or not my ds age 9 said he wanted to try a different hotel instead of the campground. He might be sick :rotfl:

Hey Camping Griswwalds it is nice to see you back on this forum. I always liked your signature name, so I noticed you were back, thats all.

I remember your signature name too because we had a Wilderness Camper! :flower:

We haven't been back camping because we had our third baby and actually sold the camper. :sad1: When it became obvious that we were only keeping it for Disney trips it became an expensive lawn ornament. :teeth: Third baby threw us over the edge for being able to camp. We all miss it though!! We'll get back into it when she's a little older I'm sure. :bounce:

I use that name for our signature because we had a lot of "GRISWALD" :scared1: moments in our early camping adventures. I think there was a post about that at one time!!

Nice to be rememberd!! HAPPY CAMPING!! :thewave:

What about renting a Fort Wilderness cabin???

I think we'll look into that option. ;) It seems a lot $$$ However when I look at our last camping trips and you add up price of preferred loop and golf cart rental, it was $$$ too.

Camping Griswalds, I know the RV place in Annapolis rents driving campers. Not sure of price, can't think of the name of it but it is right on 50.

Thanks! My DH will probably know, he can be such a smarty pants!! :rotfl:

The person who replied above answered for the campground portion only. Depending on where you rent the RV from, there will be an additional charge for pets. Where I'm renting from (Camp USA RV - who also delivers the camper to FW) it's an additional $20 per night plus an additional cleaning fee at the end of the rental. We're leaving the dog with our parents for this trip.
