A couple we know was at WDW recently. They called to tell us they took the DVC tour and spoke to a guide (they do NOT currently own DVC). They told us they are thinking about the deal - 100 points at SSR for "about 10,000". They said they have until June 15th to decide.

Without getting into a long story, let me just say they always find fault with any trip to Disney and are probably only interested in DVC because they found out that DH and I are members. They also never get a story straight, so I'm sure the "details" of this deal are wrong. But just out of curiosity -- have they lowered the minimum buy in at SSR to 100 points???

I know that in Feb/March you could buy in to both AKV and SSR for only 100 points.

I thought that was changed when the incentives came out April 1st, but maybe they reinstated it because the sales of those resorts were slow.

Still cheaper to buy 100 pts resale at SSR than thru Disney. Can probably pay about $75 (tops) + closing of about $400 (so $7900 total) for 100 pts resale. Would be around $9800 thru Disney.

That being said, I think you can buy in for 100 pts at SSR or AKV.

I think that 100 point deal at SSR is for an add-on, not an initial buy-in as indicated below:

Saratoga Springs**
$112 base price; 25-49 point purchase

$112 base price less $13.00 promotional discount; 50-99 point purchase

Special Offer #1: $112 base price less $13.00 promotional discount; complimentary Disney Cruise Line voyage during select dates in 2009 and 2010.

Cruise duration varies depending upon the number of points purchased:
100 - 124 Points = 3-night cruise
125 - 199 Points = 4-night cruise
200+ points = 7-night cruise

Special Offer #2: $112 base price less $13.00 promotional discount. Additional discount available depending upon number of points purchased:

100 - 124 points = extra $6 off ($19 total discount)
125+ points = extra $8 off ($21 total discount)

Special Offer #3: $112 base price less $13.00 promotional discount; 100-point minimum add-on; Chase Disney Visa cardholders receive two free Annual Passes to Disneyland or Walt Disney World; 15% down payment required on Disney Visa card

Back in September of last year (08) we could buy in at 100 points. During our tour/presentation only 160 was mentioned to us, it was our DVC van driver who told us about the 100 point buy in so we had to ask our guide about it. We thought it over both 100 and 160 point buy ins and chose to buy in at 160 for the incentives being offered.

When we were looking at buying DVC Directly from Disney, our Guide did say that we could buy 100 points at either AKV or SSR. This was after the new incentives were offered. Since we ended up going with SSR, we went the reslae route and basically got 150 points for just a little more than the 100 we could have purchased through Disney.

Nicely done !
