Is there a "must have" diaper bag for WDW? What do you fit in it?

I will be traveling with my DD (14 months at the time of our trip) and definitely DON'T want to bring my big diaper bag that I use everyday. It probably wouldn't fit in the basket of the umbrella stroller we are going to buy! We're probably going to end up getting the Maclaren Quest, so we will need something somewhat small, I'm guessing.

Please tell me what would be the ideal diaper bag AND what do you fit in it? What will I need to take into the parks??? I am sure of diapers, wipes, bibs, spoons, sippy cup, small toys, snacks......anything I'm missing??? Do you all also wear the oh-so-lovely fanny pack, too, as well as take the diaper bag??

Thanks for any advice!

I like the diaper bag I got from Enfamil from the hospital. It's a classic black vinyl number. It is also somewhat insulated and not too large. I use it to hold the wipes, bottles, diapers a change of clothes and a few small toys.

Do a google search for SKIP HOP EXPO diaper bag. It is actually made to clip onto the umbrella stroller and is JUST big enough for everything you need but not a pain to carry :)

I took my 15 month old 2 weeks ago, and realized quickly that you don't need quite that much stuff. I don't think you would need any toys, plenty to distract them. Also not sure why you would need spoons and bibs. I am assumming you will be going back to the room during the day for breaks.

I took a bag with a diaper some wipes a onesie sippy cup 1 sanck bandaids and sunscreen. And, I never really used any of it. Except when we went to dtd and he got wet in the spouting water. We also had a maclaren and I bought the netted bag that hangs from the back. Put my bag in there and did not use a fanny pack. they are to hot.

I have the baby innovations back back. Its a little big but it has a cooler in the front that can hold 3 bottles ( we had 2 cans of soda and a bottle of water) plus it has 2 side pouches for stuff and it has a big storage inside. it also came with a changing pad and a wipe holder. I love it. it was plenty of room to store everything i needed and it actually got heavy so i empty it a bit. it was about 30.00 at babies r us but they dont seem to have it online....

I use a Land's End Little Tripper. It is small with adjustable straps. When I'm not carrying it, I hang it over the handle bar of the stroller. I can fit a plastic travel pack of wipes, changer pad, and 2 diapers in the outside pocket. I can fit up to 4 more diapers, shorts and a t-shirt, tube of balmex, fork and spoon. There is another zippered area where I can fit my things. I usually bring a Walmart bag and a sweat shirt for airconditioning for inside the pouch of the stroller. There are 2 places on the outside to keep bottles, although I usually bring his milk in a collapsable insulated lunch bag.

This is the only diaper bag I have ever used for my Irish twins. Last year at Disney they were 23 mo and 12 mo. It held 2 sippy cups, 3 juice boxes 4 diapers, a pack of wipes, the changing pad, new shirt for each,a couple of bags of snacks, small hand sanitizer, burts bees diaper cream, lotion, oragel, tylenol, mini first aid kit (in a soap dish), clorox wipes, ziploc of crayons, couple of sheets of color paper, 2 bibs, annual passes, room keys, debit card, and van key. And nope it wasn't heavy or cumbersome, it is the BEST diaper bag in the world. We also have the bigger one that we got when my oldest was a baby and that one is fabulous for bringing tolietries for a family of 5 places.

During every day use theLittle Tripper holds 2 sippy cups, 3 juice boxes, several granola bars, some crackers, dried fruit, oh well let's just say plenty of snacks (my 3 girls have blood sugar issues), pack of wipes, changing pad, my wallet, bibs if we're going out, 4 diapers, all the above little baby items (tylenol, oragel, sanitizer, diaper cream et al) crayons, paper, hair ties, keys. It's wonderful, best $20 I ever spent and after 2 1/2 years it still looks brand new. (I don't have enough posts yet to do links so take out the spaces)

I do a standard backpack and it's great. Here's what we include:

diapers and wipes (duh! :teeth: )
sunscreen
tylenol or motrin (infant, child, and grown-up variety!)
throw away bibs
bottles (now sippies)
change of clothes for both warmer and cooler weather
a couple of snacks

Sometimes there are other things needed and there is always plenty of room in the backpack.

Good luck!

We LOVE our Skip Hop bag. DS is 4 now, and I still take it everywhere. It is the perfect size and the way it clips onto an umbrella stroller can't be beat.

Definitely skip a traditional diaper bag and go for a stroller bag that will hang from the back of your stroller. You back is free and your hands are free (and the stroller basket is free in case you need to fold it up). In ours we carried the following into the parks:

2 changes of clothes each (squished up small in ziplock bags)
diapers
wipes in ziplock bag (more "crushable" than a travel wipes case)
mini-tubes of SPF50 sunblock (1.00 each at the check out counter at BabiesRUs)
one bottle
one juice box (dd4 usually wanted to drink the bottled waters we bought in the parks and wasn't much interested in teh juice)
formula packs (the ones that come in tubes)
2 disposable bibs
3-4 sandwich size ziplock bags (for soiled clothing, etc)
moleskin (for my own feet)
one small "take along" of baby crackers/goldfish

camera
guidebook (passporter)

We use a very small back pack, acutally you can use one of the ones made to carry water on your back while running, just take the water bladder out. We put in two or three diapers, wipes, snack of some type, sippy cup, one change outfit for the unexpected and a couple of toys for while we sit down for a meal. Just the "Bare Necessities"

Disney has kids centers at each park in case you need to buy diapers, wipes etc and they are great for a break to feed a young one or change their diaper. In MK it is between Casey's and Crystal Palace.

Pretty much what others said. I ditto the change in clothes, though. We took DD when she was 13 months and whether it was that she peed, got wet, got dirty, or got sweaty, it seemed that we were always changing her! One day we stayed a long day at MK (ie she napped in the stroller) and even though we brought two changes of clothes, we had to stop and get another shirt! :rolleyes2
If your child uses toddler sized spoon/fork, I'd bring that along in a ziplock bag. When we went down, I bought those disposable ones, that way when they were done, we just tossed them.
A couple of other things I found helpful to have: fruit cups or individual applesauce (there simply is no fruit or veggies in those kids meals), fruit snacks, goldfish (I bring a box of them down with us and then use a small rubbermaid dish for in the bag since otherwise we end up with goldfish pieces instead), and I always bring a bottle of bubbles, even now. You wouldn't believe how popular we are while waiting for parades!
Another thing that I found useful when we were down there when dd was 13months was a little mini flashlight when we were out at night. She got a little uneasy with it being so dark, but having that light gave her 'power'.
Though, I have to say, when we have gone, I'm usually wanting the larger diaper bag to put everything in, as I also bring the rain ponchos/umbrellas, sweatshirt or jacket, the souvies, etc.

I have this bag right here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000067QAN/002-9972908-3624856?v=glance

It's an Eddie Bauer mini tote. I got this bag as a shower gift before I had my daughter....I have used several other bags since then but I just keep going back to this one. I love it! It is small, yet holds everything!! Here's what I keep in there at all times, with room to spare...DD just turned two:

change of clothes for DD
pack of fruit snacks
can of vienna sausages, small paper plate, plastic fork
two Bibsters disposable bibs
extra pacifier
two diapers
pack of wipes
small baggie of childrens tylenol and adult tylenol
a few feminine products for me
all my credit cards, cash, etc.
small bottle of lotion
small bottle of antibacterial hand wash
a sippy cup
a bottled water for me
foundation, lipstick, and a comb for me
usually a few little animal toys in there too
small trash baggies for messes, etc.

Whew, I think that's it LOL!!!

I was looking at getting the bigger Lands End diaper bag but I see a few mentions of the little tripper. Do you think the big one is too big? I'd be using it for other day trips and then Disney.

Well we used the Backpack diaper bag from Lands end to also hold a camera and the camcorder- so we went bigger bag. Maybe cutting back this year....hmmm what to do what to do... I am always up for a new bag. lol I need to go check out that Skip Hop Expo

For day trips- yes, I think it's totally to big. Mostly it's just the shape is more difficult. It was more difficult to squish under a stroller, would definately tip an unbrella stroller etc. We do use our older model full size Lands End one for traveling but it carries ALL the toiletries for a family of 5, including sunscreen, aloe, vitamins etc in addition to just the bath and hair stuff and it's great becuase should anything leak or spill it just wipes up. The backpack one wouldn't be bad in Disney, especially if you don't head back to the resort mid afternoon. Then it would be easy to carry.
