Is there a market for Brio trains anymore?

I'm trying to sell some of our things to put into savings for a Disney trip, and wasn't sure how much I should try to get for out Brio train set.

We bought it back when older dd was about 2-3 yrs old, so around 8 yrs ago... it's really in perfect shape.. it was up in their playroom for probably about 2 yrs, but then stored in our closet since then.

Says it's the "Engineer's" set on the plastic chest it's in.. has a price tag of $399 on it (know we didn't spend that)... it's says it's a 100+ piece set, and we bought just a few more pieces to add.. then we have about 10 train pieces.

We also have a true Brio train table that's fairly large size (maybe 3 ft x 4ft?), reversible top. If I remember right, we spent about $160 on the table.

How much do you think I should be trying to get for this.. planning on listing it on Craiglist, since it would be way to heavy/costly to ship.

Thanks for any input!

Look on ebay for the train set to get completed auction listings. Also do a search on Craigslist and see how long certain priced ones have been listed for. Good luck!

Thanks, :)

I looked on Ebay, but didn't see any that were similar to ours.. and ones that were about the size of ours were BIN only so that doesn't really give me an idea if they'd sell or not. :(

Found a very similar table to ours (ours is actually a bit better cause it has side storage shelves) being sold for $180... ours has a Brio board though, where this one is a Thomas board.

I sold our Thomas set recently. Ours was quite played with! I had 133 pieces total including track, mountains, roundhouse, trains, and everything.

On ebay I might have been able to get more, but I really didn't want the hassle of wrapping and shipping AND once you pay the paypal fees and the ebay fees, the savings are quite diminished.

So, I put it on our local Mom's board. I got $70 for all of it, which wasn't bad since it was well used/loved! And I was so happy it went to a family with 2 Thomas fiends, boys, ages 3 and 1.

This was JUST the train set. I also had a table, but I sold that separately. In fact, I traded it with another Mom on the Mom's board who had a ping pong table she no longer wanted! My kids got the ping pong table for Christmas!

Cool, thanks for the info about how much you were able to get for yours!!

Think maybe I'll put it together, take a pic, and list it.. I'd like to get at least $200 for all of it.. so thinking if I can't get that much, maybe I'll just hold on to it for when dd's have kids, lol.
