Is there a GOOD Bug & Sun Screen?????

Are you looking for the 2 together or seperately? I don't know of any together, but if it's seperately, I can recommend Off's new Smooth and Dry and for Suntan lotion - Panama Jack or Neutragena BREATHABLE suntan lotion.

hello,

i sell avon and they make a really good sunscreen and bug guard together. It is called bug guard plus and it has an SPF 30 in it. Below is my website where you can order it. It is very reasonable priced. just click on shop now and there will be a search box, type in bug guard and it will bring up all the different versions. They have ones with and without sunscreen.

I was going to recommend Avon also. there skin so soft works great too.

I found this article useful:
www idph state il us/envhealth/deetfacts.htm (I can't post links yet so you'll have to cut & paste and replace the dots; sorry.)

Nutshell version: apply sunscreen then repellent. The combo products are not recommended "ecause the instructions for safe use of DEET and safe use of sunscreen are different".

I found the article after we used a combo product that I thought was highly ineffective a year ago when we visited the Caribbean. A couple of days after getting tired of getting bit I switched to using a 30 spf sunscreen and Off and had no more problems with mosquitoes (no problems w/sunburn, either).

I am pretty sure that the Avon version is DEET free. It is 2 for $12 right now. however like a previous poster mentioned you can apply sunscreen then spay on Avon's original skin so soft spray. It keeps bugs away and makes your skin smooth at the same time. They are running a special right now and the spray is only $3.95.

I think it comes out alot cheaper than the sunscreen then the off.

Hi! I am just lurking on the DCL boards because I'm hopeful that, eventually, I can afford to take my son on one.

In answer to your question- I live in the SC lowcountry where sunburns are practically a year-round threat and as for the bugs? We frequently need to rope 'em and ride 'em. My son is currently in summer camp and while last year I used separte sunscreen and bug repellant, this year I tried the Bull Frog Mosquito Coast. Last year he did not really have any burns (I used Bull Frog w/out the repellant) but I swear I wondered how bugs found new places to bite his already covered body every day.

So far, since the second week of June, he has been attending camp and I have been stunned to find that he has only ever had ONE bite (no burns). I'm now a HUGE fan of the BF Mosquito Coast. It costs $7 - $8 per bottle and is in a little green bottle. Make sure you get the Mosquito Coast as there are several Bull Frog sunscreens without repellant.

Hope this helps! Also, make sure you are applying enough. One thing I was reading mentioned that people generally do not apply enough to start with and then are fairly slack about reapplication. I apply it to him before he leaves the apartment in the morning and he reapplies himself midday and I pick him up at 5:30- if that helps.

Thanks Chaslaw for the recomindation. I saw it at Target today and was wondering about it

We use the Avon product for our girls aged 5 and 3. They like the disappearing color version, although we (the adults) prefer the colorless version. It is a good product, but like all similar products it needs to be used more frequently than you might think otherwise.
