Is there a GAD FAQ?

I've been reading many of the threads related to GAD but was wondering if there is one central thread that pulls all of this together. I have several questions that are not unique that I assume have been asked by others. When I use the search function I end up with 9 gazillion options but thought maybe an FAQ here on the boards (not the Disney supplied ones) would be helpful. Anyone?

Doconeill is the resident GAD guru, and I think there are several long threads about GAD around here. If you are considering the fastpass cards, here is a site that Doconeill put together that probably answers any questions you have about the FP cards. If that doesn't help, just ask! We are happy to help. :goodvibes

A sticky FAQ would have been a good idea!

Here is my quick attempt at an FAQ. What am I forgetting? :goodvibes

Where can I redeem my GAD vouchers?

Will Call at each of the four main parks or the TTC. You cannot redeem vouchers at DTD or the resorts.

What do I need to show at Will Call?

Present your voucher and a valid, government issued ID (license, passport, military ID). A birth certificate (original or copy) works for kids under 18. A school ID card does not work.

What can I get for my voucher?

You can receive a one-day ticket that can be upgraded to a multi-day ticket with the usual MYW options. You can also upgrade to an annual pass or Florida Resident ticket (with FL ID). If you upgrade, you will receive credit for the amount of a one-day pass ($79 for an adult ticket).

If you have a valid multi-day ticket or AP, you can choose to redeem your GAD voucher for FP cards or a Mickey Ears figurine with pins. The FP cards are good for up to six people in your group. All must have a valid ticket (and are supposed to be present when you redeem, but many have just handed over everyone’s tickets at redemption).

You may also choose to donate your vouchers to participating organizations.

How do I upgrade my voucher to a multi-day ticket?

Redeem your voucher at Will Call for a one-day ticket. At that time, or anytime within 14 days, you may upgrade to a multi-day ticket. Many people have upgraded all in one transaction at Will Call. You may also visit Guest Relations to upgrade.

Can I use the value of the GAD ticket to upgrade tickets that I already have?

No. You can upgrade the GAD ticket, but you cannot combine the value of the GAD ticket with another ticket.

Can I use the GAD tickets and still book a package with dining?

Sort of. To get the dining plan, you have to book a package with tickets unless you have an AP or are a DVC member. You can book a package with one-day tickets and save those tickets for another trip, using and upgrading the GAD tickets instead. You can't add the value of the GAD tickets to tickets you get with a package. The GAD vouchers must be redeemed by December 15, while the tickets from a package do not expire until they are used.

Can I get more than 6 FP cards if I have more than six in my group?

Most likely. Many people have reported getting more FP cards as long as they had everyone’s valid tickets in hand.

Where can I find info about the FP cards? For how many and which attractions can they be used?

At this wonderful website:

http://www.oinc.net/disney/fastpass.php#gad

Does everyone in my group have to have a multi-day ticket to get a FP card for them?

No, just the person whose name is on the voucher. Everyone must have a valid ticket.

Can I give my voucher or ticket to someone else (my child, a friend, etc.)?

No, vouchers and tickets are non-transferable.

Can I get FP cards after 11 am?

Disney states that they might not be available after 11 am, but many people have gotten them later and no one has so far reported being denied.

Can I turn in my voucher, but use the ticket another day?

No, tickets must be used on the date the voucher is redeemed.

Can I use the FP cards at all four parks?

The FP cards are available at all four parks, but each card is valid only at the park issued and only on that date.

I have a question about the GAD program. Where do I go?

GAD FAQs are here:

It has been more than two weeks since my volunteer service, but I haven't been verified. Who do I contact?

Contact the guest support team here:

Do I have to print my voucher now? I might lose it. Can I print it more than once?

You can save it as a PDF file and print it as often as you'd like. It is only valid for use once, though.

When I print my voucher, it asks for the date I am going to use it. What if I don't know the date, or what if it changes?

Entering the date is optional. The date does not print on the voucher. You can skip that step, or if you choose a date, you can redeem on another date without any problem.

Anything else I need to know?

Vouchers must be redeemed by December 15, 2010. They are not valid for admission on July 4, 2010 for WDW. They are not valid for admission at Disneyland June 21-22, July 4, November 21, and December 11-12, 2010. Other options (FP cards and figurine) are available during blackout dates.

Thanks SPMom. This is helpful. I was curious about the FP options so I'm going to jump over there and read those details too. Thanks again.

I'm blushing... :)

I did put together an FAQ as well here, but yours is pretty complete!

Okay, Resident Guru (you may want to think about a name change) I've had a chance to read your wonderful site and I have a few more questions. You may have answered them and I'm just too thick to understand, so forgive me.

I guess the Donald's and Daisy's are the area murkiest to me. I'm thinking of them as DDP credits. So using three as the number (and I know this will be determined day of) am I to understand that there will be three Donald AND three Daisy credits per park - totaling six possible redemptions? Or am I mucking it up and it's three credits that can be EITHER Donald or Daisy credits - totaling three possible redemptions?

Again, sorry for being thick but... well, lets leave it at that.;)
