Is there a Forum forum somewhere specifically dedicated to military?

A friend of mine is in the service and was asking about ticket discounts and I said I felt sure there were discounts for military families. I have seen Shades of Green mentioned before, but can someone steer me in the right direction so I can pass on the info? Thanks!

As far as a forum for military Disney information, I don't know of one but maybe someone else might. There is info on SOG website about tickets, also ticket info/sales can be done on base usually. There is a really good website about Disney World in relation to military members, I hope it's okay to give out websites on here, if not someone can let me know, I'll link it below unless I'm told otherwise.

http://www.militarydisneytips.com - Great site with lots of info, hope that will be helpful!

4 day tickets, $196 and comes with either park hopper or water parks and more. You can get them at your base ticket office, Shades of Green (no tax), or at a Disney ticket window (tax at WDW). You can add the other option, making the tickets $230. There's a room discount, as well, but you have to call to make those reservations.
Edit: my dad's retired military and my boyfriend recently joined the Coast Guard, so I'll try to answer any questions you might have!

Good info listed, but I wanted to add they can call their local Tickets and Transportation Office or visit them to buy tickets or check on prices. Definitely buy ahead of time and register them in their MDE account so they can make FP at the 60 day mark.

Hotel discounts are often cheaper or close in price to Shades of Green. We have stayed at a moderate before where it was very close in price to SoG. Values are almost always cheaper. SoG has nice big rooms and is across from the Poly, but we prefer Disney properties. Discounts are as follows:

Value 30% discount
Mods 35%
Deluxe 40%

If you go to your local ITT/MWR office, do so months in advance of your trip. When I went to my local ITT office three weeks before our Disney trip earlier this year to get tickets, the only tickets they carried were 1 day tickets. Tickets for more than one day had to be ordered, and the tickets would arrive the week we were at Disney!

However, the folks at the ITT office directed me to go to the Shades of Green when we got to Orlando. The SoG can provide tickets for as many days as you need.

Yep, the only issue is that buying tickets when you arrive means you have not pre-booked fastpasses.

Our ITT office always says it can take up to two weeks for tickets to arrive after they order them, but all three times we have done it, they are there within two days! Can't count on that, but that was our experience. We plan our trips plenty far enough in advance that it is not an issue.

You can also PM me if you have any specific questions that you can't find the answers to.

I couldn't understand why it would take that long to get the tickets, but the lady at the counter checked with the manager and confirmed it for me. Anyway, going to the SoG to get the tickets worked out for us that trip and I learned to visit the ITT office well in advance!

My wife and I were worried about that since we couldn't get our tickets until the day before we went to the parks. Maybe we got lucky, when we put out tickets into MDE the night before we started touring the parks, we got all the fast passes we wanted!

If you don't have your hearts set on staying on property, check out afvclub.com. If your dates are flexible, you can get 7 nights at a Space-A condo for $349 a week - $50 a night! We've used afvclub several times in the past and never had a problem.
