As per the title Is there a facebook group for Australian disboard members?
Or any other groups for Disney addicts in Australia?

I think there is. I remember reading a reference to the reason it being quiet on here is due to everyone heading to Facebook. I think it was a closed group with all the long time members.

If you start one I will join :)

yeah there was one that i was a part of, but it's a closed group with strict posting rules so I was booted out for not posting often enough. now find most of those people are gone from DIS and stick solely to the group.

it did become a bit mundane and very clicky.

I remember when that Facebook page first started.

I wasn't interested in discussing Disney in 2 different places (I'm perfectly happy with the Dis), so I didn't consider joining. I remember how quiet these boards became in the month or so after, which I thought was a bit of a shame.

All I ask, if you do join a Facebook page, is that you don't forget us lovely folks on here. We'll miss you if you leave! :goodvibes

Hmmm, I remember asking to join this group and was not replied to....maybe I didn't fit the "criteria", lol. It all seemed at bit Mean Girls to me at the time.

The Dis is a much nicer place!

If you guys want to start a FB group you should, I highly recommend it. I'm part of the "mean girls group". Hardly mean if you call a small group of disney lovers who have become friends as a result of our common love for disney mean then yeah I guess we are mean. :confused3 We all still ponder on DIS every now and again...as you can see. :thumbsup2

I'm part of the group too and, whilst we originally started the group to take our personal non-Disney thread off the DIS and onto a more appropriate forum, we have now become a very close group of friends. Whilst we share a love of Disney and that's how we met each other, it has evolved into something much more special to us now. We actually rarely talk about Disney anymore and its now about personal friendships. I have even flown over to OZ from New Zealand to catch up with my "mean girl'' (we are not at all mean) friends. So please don't take offense that we are not growing our group. We were here at a unique time and formed a unique group.

Like Kyl says, I also can highly recommend you forming your own group and hopefully you would get as much pleasure being part of it as we have with ours. :thumbsup2

Kyl, I meant no offense to anyone with my comments, so I apologise if you took it that way. I was just a bit bemused by the whole FB thing at the time. ;)

Mundane and very clicky???? That sounds a bit harsh and maybe even mean!

What ever made u think calling us mean girls would offend us....of course it's offensive!:confused3

I'm in the "Mean Girl" group, and don't consider it to be cliquey at all, but it's not a Dis Group, it's a friendship group.

I still post at least once a week here (if I have anything Dis-ey to say that is) otherwise i'm just clogging your Dis feed with "stuff" that has nothing to do with Disney.

They're both nice places, just serve different purposes.

Some of us don't post here often for various reasons - no trips to plan, other interests, general meanness from other Dis members that have led to some of us getting told off by mods for standing up for ourselves or others, life in general taking up our spare time etc. But just because you don't always see people on the Australian side it doesn't mean we are not posting on the other threads.

In regards to FB you will find lots of FB groups that have stemmed from this board. I've developed some lovely new friendships with people I met on my cruises, people I met on our cruise threads on the Dis. We keep in contact through FB as it is more private and some of those people are also travel agents - people who aren't allowed to make that publicly known on here. I don't think that if you are a Dis member you should give up your right to discuss things elsewhere.

I sometimes see posts on the community thread about people starting up FB groups from here, not everyone likes it but that's how these things go. It's just like parents who have kids in the same class at school, some click, some don't. It doesn't make them cliquey whatsoever.

Oh but we are discussing the merits of BYO pool noodles on RCCL, the joys of husbands go-pro-ing the mowing, new jobs, whiny offspring, gold-digging in-laws and whether or not they should be given the chop, how to manage morning sickness, which taxi drivers and bus routes to avoid if you don't want to be involved in peak-hour crashes, how to justify chocolate donuts as a breakfast food when not on holiday, that kind of thing. Mundane perhaps, but amusing nonetheless (to me, anyway :( ). Although I don't think casual readers on the Dis would want to read that kind of thing here. Especially when we have more pressing personal issues like death and illness to contend with that we don't necessarily want to discuss here for the whole world to read. Oh, and we talk about periods, child birth and other 'gross' things - definitely not suited for the Dis :(

There's nothing stopping anyone from forming their own friendship groups off here. Some people come and go from our lives, by choice or not. That's just how life is.

That 'MEan Girl' group is a lovely group of women who became very close on the dis and I really don't see that it is any different to forming a cruise group I am a member of 4 of them 2 past cruises and 2 to come they are only open to people who are participating on those cruises, it's really not nice to pass judgement on people because they are part of a group.
FYI I was a part of that group and took myself of it recently because I spent way to much time on there the way I also stopped being on the Dis when I found it was consuming my time, you honestly could not find a nicer and more caring group of people than that group of Disney Loving girls, I miss them and their support a lot so if your thinking of forming your own groups it's a great idea :)
