Is there a DR in the house?

About 20yrs ago, my Dr told me that I had a small heart murmer. She said it was not a big deal, that I probably was born with it, not to worry. Well with all of the bad things that have happened at Disney lately, I am worried! I recently had my check-up, and yep, this Dr heard it too. I asked if it was something I should be concerned about, as I was going to Disney and wanted to ride all the rides. She said no, it was not the kind of heart murmer that would cause a heart-attack. Maybe I am not understanding what a heart murmer really is. Can someone explain it to me in simple language? And do I really not have any reason to be concerned? Dr also gave me meds to take before I go to the Dentist, which have to do with the heart murmer, so that has kind of freaked me out too.

A harmless or innocent murmur is just an extra or unusual sound (blood flow) heard when your Doc listens with a stethoscope. The meds are most likely an antibiotic that you take just prior to dental work or surgery but usually due to a valvular defect. Did the term MVP come up?

Innocent heart murmurs do not affect your health and require no treatment.
