Is there a downside to the 2 for 1 pin sale?

The rumormill has started that the BOGO (Buy One Get One) sale is to clear out the DS pins, period, except for a few chosen stores. (To make way for the *new* DS.)
Can anyone verify THAT?
I am hoping it is just nothing more than a rumor.
The stores haven't seen new pins for what -- three weeks  (?) now.

Hopemax --- ??

I wouldn't doubt it. I asked a DS CM just last weekend if they got in regular shipments anymore and she said they didn't. She also added that they are not doing as well as they once did in the stores. So, once I heard the news about the sale, that's the first thing that ran thru my mind.

I'm still going to stop by our DS tonight and I'll ask them if that's what they think.

Our store has a lot left of the pins. If they did not make so many of them it would be very tradeable to others. I hope they try something a little different to try and spark the DS pin sales. Mystery pins.....something.

But also the Gallery Stores have sales all the time on their pins. I don't think this is any different?

Now that would be a cool thing Randy... I would love to see a Cool Mystery Pin Released only at the DS...

Has the Disney store thought about how they introduced the secibd set if pins and how they had the lines on Saturday morning and how they sold pins and everything else in the store to everyone that was there.

Why did they stop that madness - it had to bring in great money to the store and each week the pins would sell out.

There is a mint to be made here by people like me that hardly ever get to WDW - hardly ever =( - They had a great crowd and they had the stores filled with people buying pins.

Wonder what happen.

Mystery pins - a great idea - i still go and check every week to see what is new and exciting at the store - i will be ther tomorrow.

I think that not publicizing the weekly sets ahead of time really killed this "set" We would all stand there on Saturday morning with with the print out of the pins and talk about what each of us wanted. It was fun. Now... I only see a few of the folks that were in line with us, and none of the others (an occasional one here and there) and when we ask CM's about them, they don't see them either.

TDS missed the boat on this series. We always would buy something else in the store, and they were SURE to make their hourly goal within the first 15 minutes of store opening and it would make probably a good part of the morning goals.

The gallery store that I frequent is being phased out, and it is sad to see. I will be there in the morning...with my line friends.

I'm looking at this sale as a way to buy some extra pins for trading with CMs at WDW. Luv2Roam, I am glad you posted about this afterreading about it on another bb - thank you. This afternoon I got a message from a local CM about the sale tomorrow. I called the store tonight to see what time they open tomorrow, & the CM mentioned the sale to me. Interesting though ... this store has not received any August Tigger calendar pins. Another store in the area received this pin, but I don't feel like driving over there. The TDS, where I bought last fall's Years of Dreams set of pins, couldn't help but to make their hourly goals - there were lots of sales & just about everyone walked out with a bag or more of merchandise. Another fine example of Disney being consistently inconsistent :)!

JudithM -- Would you believe the Omaha store STILL has the Reluctant Dragon YoD pins that your store never received?
Tigger calendar was GONE. And not many of the MoM pins are completely sold out here. This was the only MoM calendar pin we do not have.

Luv2Roam, that is too funny about the Reluctant Dragon pin! The TDS where I shopped today recently got a new shipment of of 4th of July pins plus the Minnie July calendar. The CM pointed them out to me :). She also showed me the tiny pins on the doll lanyards, so I "HAD" to buy two - one for me & one for a friend's little girl who is into princesses.
