Is there a downside to paying off a room only reservation early?

Our CBR room only reservation is for June 30. But, I was able to take advantage of a sale for Disney gift cards at 8% off. So, I bought enough cards to pay this off (as well as the Disney cruise balance). Saved almost $500!

Now that I have all these gift cards, is there any reason not to just call them in to pay off the room?

I know I'll need to save the cards as any refund would go back to them, but I'll need to keep them in a safe place if I don't use them right away, also.

I also know to consolidate them on the Disney gift card web site.

Thanks!

Either way you have to keep the GCs in a safe place, but if you use them earlier and (by some chance you lose them) your trip is paid for. And they can actually refund to a new GC if you have lost the original, it just takes more effort on their side. Congrats on having the GC process down, purchase them at a discount, consolidate onto fewer cards, and then spend them:laughing:

We did this in August this year. My husband called and paid the room balance prior to our arrival a week or so later.

Beware though, they actually applied the whole amount from the card (had about twice the funds needed to pay for the room) and for some reason could not refund back the overage. They ended up keeping it as a credit on the room and we used our MB to charge it back up to zero. Now I actually wish they could put GC on the room every time as it was so so nice not to have to worry about keeping ahead of our room charges for the GC.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the warning about the overage. I'll make sure to pay off the cruise first (hopefully they don't do that also!)

My gift cards are actually $1.25 short of completely paying off both reservations, so there shouldn't be any issue.

Do yourself AND the CM a favor and go to disneygiftcard.com and combine them into as few cards as possible (you can have $1000 per card). Less for them to input and less for you to hang onto in the event of a refund.
