Is there a Disney cruise line that caters only to adults or teens?

My Alaska had quite a lot of kids. European ones May/June/September don't but Juky/August all European kids are out of school.

The goal is not to be away from kids but to find a cruise with a little more focus on young teens instead of young children. Thoughts?

I think that might be too narrow a demographic for any cruise line. You're better off looking for a line that has a robust teen activity schedule in addition to whatever else it does. Or trying a guided tour group like ABD or Tauck that runs trips with certain age restrictions due to activities.

FWIW, I don't think that DCL's focus is young children alone. I think they offer activities for a range of children, especially given Vibe and Edge are open with scheduled activities something like 17 hours a day.

Any DCL cruise during school and not around or close to a holiday, will have less children, and more so if it is an extended cruise for more than a week.

DCL does occasionally have groups charter one of their ships. A company that wanted to do and 18+ cruise probably could probably set the rules to an Adults only cruise.

I think the OP is not wanting to avoid children per se, and I'm guessing has at least one of their own. They are looking for a cruise that caters to slightly older kids- "young teens"- which I'd take to be 13-16. So going during traditional school times would actually decrease the number of teens.

As others have mentioned there is not specific cruise itinerary that Disney Cruise Line offers that only caters to adults/teens. You might be able to find a cruise that has fewer children on it by booking a cruise when most kids are in school but there is no guarantee.

There aren't enough young teens out there to justify specializing an ocean cruise. But like others have said, there are some tour companies which do it, and many of them have river cruises. Or look into Adventures by Disney. Anything with an educational focus rather than just beach fun. Safaris. The Galapagos.

Interestingly though, I got an email today advertising an adults only Disney river cruise in Europe.

That is an Adventures by Disney River cruise, 2018 I think Octoberfest. Seems I looked into river cruised in the past 2 days and Disney river cruises and I got that email as something new THEMED Adv. By Disney river cruise.
gotta love cookies LOL

They partner with AMA Waterways for their river cruises.

Looks Interesting tho... but way expensive. I gave up with the River Cruises. besides having to fly there ... YIPES
I will stick with DCL till DS gets older.

We did a river cruise (Not Disney/AMA, however) in 2015. From Bucharest to Cologne. It was a B2B, as we felt "as long as we have to fly all the way there......." We had originally planned on only the Budapest/Cologne trip, but changed to add the Bucharest/Budapest one just prior.

Yes, a lot more expensive, not as "kid friendly" (not an issue for us), but lots of stuff included in that price (like excursions in every port).

Sounds beautiful, We did one in Portugal a Douro River Cruise, but we did it because we had to be in Portugal. It was lovely and DS had us all over the country seeing castles, churches, and even a tile museum. I looked into them at first for the culture and have heard wonderful things about them, but got sticker shock. Still want to do one someday.... hopefully
I feel that DS would be beyond bored evening/nights as he is always on the go. He would love the excursion aspects tremendously.

I've not done the ABD river cruise, but looked hard at them, enough to have a deposit on one but had to cancel due to family issues. Disney partners with AMA and the entire ship is ABD. There are activities on the nights that you are not in a town - one of the selling points for the ABD cruise was that there were supposed to be more nights than usual for a river cruise where you were still docked after dinner, giving you you the opportunity to spend time in the town. On nights you sail, the guides have activities for the kids. No, it is not the hubbub of a DCL kid's club, but it's not sit around and play scrabble either. I've heard nothing but good things about the ABD river cruise, particularly as the kinks get worked out (it's just their second year.)

That said, the sticker shock...

They do a good job with teens on any cruise. They'll be in their own club doing their own thing. The activities are age appropriate. I can't imagine a teen being bored on a Disney cruise.

But you could never get some of them to ADMIT that they are having fun.

One of the things that really impressed me was how well DCL caters to the needs/wants of teens and adults, as well as families with small children. Sure, there are lots of little kids around, and Disney characters, but in the Adult areas it is pretty quiet and calm, and not too crowded. I really enjoyed my "adult time" on the ship, by Satellite Falls or in the adult pool, or in one of the bars, while my teen-aged sons and their cousins enjoyed their teen time in Vibe. But we also had plenty of time together as a family, and plenty of time to remember that sometimes "being a kid again" is fun too, a lesson that I hope my sons never forget. So to me, DCL gets the mix pretty much correct.

Do you think it might be called RCCL? (We haven't tried them yet but I'm certainly tempted...)

They seem to also be directing their cruises for families of all ages, so there would be kids on there, too.

I dont mind some but on the other extreme I dit a carraibean cruise 7n October 2011 that was full on all younger age quota. It was a very noisy cruise with lots of kids on the loose, running and screaming in hallways...and lines for characters were always HUGE.
I ve done a lot of the longer cruises and those usually have indeed a smaller ratio kids on it so may be it is just a shock to me when they are on full ratio...
Didn't know there was a quota on kids! Not sure how the enforce it
