Is there a discount for booking B2B?

I saw something recently on one of the travel blogs talking about this but it wasn't clear, sounded like you get an added price reduction for booking a back to back, is that correct?

Never heard of that before and we certainly didn't. Maybe it was talking about the ability to make on board bookings - 1 for each leg of the trip - which gives you the ability to get discounts on two future trips (as long as they're made within 24 months)?

Only if you already have an OBB/placeholder or 2 booked that can be applied. Used to be, a B2B was the "exception" to the 1 cruise date rule for OBBs, but that is no longer allowed. No B2B discount if just straight booking through DCL or a TA.

Enjoy your cruises!

Is that even possible to book on board for the next cruise if there's availability?

I hadn't actually meant that but it's interesting to note that it was obviously possible and done. Perhaps that was what was referred to in the travel blog. But what I meant was the ability to book a placeholder on the first of the two B2B cruises and then book another placeholder on the second which would give you discounts on two future cruises.

this you can do.

Our last cruise with DCL was a B2B on the Dream. we booked a placeholder on each. Once 2017 dates opened up we moved the placeholders to another set of B2B cruises (they could have gone to any 2 cruises in the 2 year timeframe, didn't have to be B2B).

We met a couple on the Dream who were on their 7th cruise in a row, each one booked while on board the cruise before. They planned on two more.

If sailing from Port Canaveral you get a discount on parking. You only pay for parking for the first cruise. Then just leave your car in the parking lot. I planned a B2B on the Dream with the 3 day first just for this reason.

This isn't a discount, but our 3-nt/4-nt B2B turned out cheaper than a 7-nt (not the same ports as a 7-nt but same class ship and accommodations). Just something to consider.

This was true for us in March (2018) we saved thousands by booking the B2B in lieu of the 7 night- in fairness, the 7 night had a Star Wars Day at sea, which we'll miss. I'm thinking the extra drinks I can buy may help soothe the pain...

I think they mentioned this on the DU podcast as part of their DCL series of shows last year. It isn't always the case, but still worth checking out.

Yes! That's exactly how I got the idea! We were so depressed when we couldn't afford the 7-nt nor did one fit into our schedule! The ports are repetitive on our B2B, but to tell you the truth, we're just looking to enjoy the ship and not do any crazy running around with excursions as we end up always doing on the 7-nts!
