Is there a difference in room comfort quality between Mods vs. Deluxes?

The newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music have new pillowtop mattresses. They are very" comfy".

I have only read one report where a guest staying in a refurbed Music room did not have the new pillowtop matresses.

I wonder if a few rooms did not update to the pillowtop mattresses because of some disabled guests needing a bed with a lower mattress.:confused3

That is great to hear -- about the FQ -- but I have to disagree, just a little, with that the AKL is a "lite deluxe." We absolutely LOVED AKL. :lovestruc It was our first deluxe but still -- it was so comfortable and wonderful.

I agree with you. AKL did not feel "lite" to us either. Room size aside (which doesn't really matter to me anyway), I think the amenties (meaning bed comfort, linen quality, decor, etc) were a big step up from the moderates and a giant leap up from the values. POFQ is our favorite moderate, but AKL is still a great deal more comfortable, IMHO.

I have stayed at the CBR, Poly and (a long time ago) the CR.
CBR:
I have always had very comfortable beds (I've had both the double bed and king bed rooms) and a choice of pillows at the CBR. The rooms are well designed and there is good drawer space in the armoire with additional storage space in a drawer under a bench seat. Table and chairs and a shelf with peg hooks and well designed night stands are the rest of the features. The rooms are a little bigger than the other mods. I like the cheerful tropical decor and the lighting is excellent.
The plumbing can be a little loud and depending on neighbors you can hear some noise from other rooms or nothing at all.
Towels are only adequate in terms of quality. Plenty of them in terms of numbers. Two sinks and a large amount of vanity surface area.
Poly:
Very cushy and luxurious. Two very comfortable queen beds and a day bed. The decor is fabulous, tiki inspired with many cool touches in the lamps and night and side tables. Beautiful translucent closet doors, big screen TV, comfortable desk. Adequate drawer space. Bigger safe than the CBR. Balconies are terrific in the rooms that have them and there is comfy porch furniture on the balconies. The decor is a little dark for some people, but with the big sliding glass doors on one end of the room you can get good light from outside. The rooms are huge. I stayed in Tahiti by myself last December and the room almost felt too big!
I didn't hear any noise from other rooms while there.
The towels are of a much higher quality than at the CBR. Tahiti had great water flow and pressure, Fiji much less so (it was only ok). Bathroom is well designed with a little shelf about the sinks to keep all those essential products.
I love them both and will probably continue to split my stays.

This mattress stuff is getting confusing to me!

I believe POR said they were getting mattresses like WL in 2005, don't know about FQ. I found the mattresses at WL very comfortable. Maybe there is a difference in the "heavier" deluxes!?

Does anyone know the complete status of rehabs of the budgets? We are thinking of staying in ASMo maybe music or pop, but I think the little girls liked the movies better. We thought we would try the budgets out (can you believe I said that after being at WL?) to save $ and because the little kids get excited about the theming at the budgets!:goodvibes

Well I am hoping there is enough time in between WL and budgets so I don't remember too much for the big jump!!! I think what will kill me the most is the transportation. I loved the boat to MK!!!:cloud9: I of course love everything about the deluxes, but watching the kids expressions with theming that they like will make up for it.(:scared1: I think?!?)

There is a difference in the room comfort quality between GF and POFQ.

The mattress at GF was so comfortable, we tore the bedding off looking for the label on the mattress!!

The towels were bigger, fluffier and more plentiful. Also there was a wicker hamper in the room so we didn't have to look at a pile of wet towels.

There was a phone by the toilet for goodness sake. Not that we used it....lol

I swear the toilet paper was softer.

The shampoo and toiletries are better.

There were two top sheets on the bed, not one. You had a sheet between you and the blanket, and then again on the other side of the blanket so you never had to have the blanket touch your skin...does that make sense?

No having to look at the vanity area because it's out of site of the rest of the room.....a door on the closet.....a lot of little things add up to make a big overall difference.

When the blanet is between two top sheets it is called "triple sheeting'. Most of your better hotels have triple sheeting.

Your stay must have been very recent because as far I know none of the Disney owned resorts use to use triple sheeting before.

The Swan and Dolphin however have used the triple sheeting the last few years I have stayed there.

Just my 2 cents.

...The shampoo and toiletries are better.....

Probably not really better, just in a cuter bottle/container. Cute little yellow and blue, Victorian shaped containers if I remember correctly.

The shampoo in the GF bottle smells like green apples. The shampoo at POFW was just generic smelling.

The soap at GF came in three bars, a small round facial bar, a large bath bar, and a medium sized glycerin bar. POFQ I'm pretty sure was basic white soap.

Don't get me wrong we LOVED POFQ and would return there any time. But we expected it to be more in line with what we were paying. (which it was)

the GF did away with the cute victoria bottles and now have the h2O spa stuff but the GF stuff is diff than the AKL stuff. we were at both resorts last year and have differnt stuff, all H2) products but different.

I agree GF beds are heavenly. we also found AKL beds to be very comfy (or maybe we were just really tired!)

I didn't know that. Good to know.

the stuff at AKL wasn't BAD, but the GF stuff was better, and had more stuff. AKL just had shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion if i remember correctly. GF also had foot rub and 3 diff (i think) kinds of bar soap

We requesteda King Bed at CBR and it only cost us $15 /night more. Can't you do that with all the mods?

Yes, but there's only one king bed per room. Great for couples or solo travellers, but not a viable option for families.

We stayed ASMU Family Suite last May. With the exception of size (we have a King Size @ Home) the bed was very comfy. DH said pillows were nice and fluffy ( I travel with my own) except one which mousekeeping promptly replaced. The kids even said the pull out beds were comfy.

For the price I was very impressed with the family suites and would go back to them in a heartbeat. We loved the kitchentte area and ate breakfast here every morning. Plus we had two full size bathrooms. I don't think any of the other resorts offer that. With five people it was nice, especially at bath time.
