Is there a thread for budget ideas for side dishes, apps and desserts for Turkey day? If not, let's start one!!1:flower3:

Wal-Mart is sale turkeys for 7.00 and under. I bought two turkeys for less than 10.00. One 4.36 cent other was 4.56 cent turkey.

I had plenty of green beans already at the house.

My menu is:

Turdey
dressing
devil eggs
mac and cheese
gravy
sweet potato pie
rolls that is it.

I going very simple.

Wal-Mart has a Thanksgiving meal for 20.00 dollars this year two.

I agree. Keep it simple and that will cut down on the costs. Thanksgiving doesn't have to be fancy, stressful or expensive!

We are having:

Chicken with Gravy
Stove Top Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Corn
Peas
Jello Salad
Rolls
Angel Food Cake

Everyone loves this meal!

Oh man, my family would strangle me if I didn't do a full blown traditional Thanksgiving meal. I can experiment with Christmas, choose a theme, they don't care, but not Thanksgiving! So...

Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Sweet Potatoes
Garlic Sauteed Broccoli and Mushrooms
Cranberry Sauce
Dinner Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie
Pecan Pie

All homemade, plus a veggie platter and deviled eggs. I'm fortunate in that I grow all of my own herbs, we picked apples and pumpkins earlier in the fall and everything else is pretty inexpensive from scratch and likely in my pantry day to day anyway. The pecans are really the only thing I would term expensive. We are feeding 10-12 this year, at my mom's house. The hardest part is cooking in her tiny little kitchen:scared:

The food is a big part of the celebration at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving.

I find pretty much all the Thanksgiving trimmings/meal to be on good specials during this season.

Our local grocery store has a full front section with Thanksgiving type foods on special.

We plan to use:

.69/pound turkey
Stuffing
real potatos for mashed potatoes
make our own gravy
rolls
butter
yam casserole

friends are bringing

green bean casserole
pie
salad

My guess is that it will be around $30 to feed 9 people and will probably feed us for a few meals. I find that very reasonable.
