We've been to Disney before. That said we've never bothered with Adr's in the past since we usually stay offsite and the few times we've done Disney dining ie Victoria and Albert's we had no problem getting the dates and times we wanted much closer to our travel. I could never understand why people tried to book so far in advance. So here we are. We've planned a trip for Sept/Oct and I didnt seriously look at our dining until recently. Recently as in the last few weeks. The first few days of our 2 week trip we booked at the Dolphin so be could be onsite(sort of). We had planned to do mainly Disney activites and dining until I now realized that those who snooze lose. And yes I now know why people book 6 mths out ...lol.

We did manage to get the dessert party for MK and CRT for breakfast, but that said I really wanted either CRT or BG for dinner(we'll keep the breakfast if we dont get the dinner) for either of our 2 MK dates. I keep checking daily and there is nothing at all that shows up. Am I dreaming that there might be a cancellation or is it more unlikely than not ? Is there a time of day that these things get loaded on the system or is it a constant reloading ? Anyone aware of any type of waitlist ?

Also having been reading these boards I thought that one couldnt hold more than one ressie at a given time. Last night when I was rejockeying a few ressies I made chgs on the MDE to some of our dinners. Then I had to go back in to cancel the ones that I know longer wanted. As an example we had Via Napoli booked for a 4:45 pm res. We're trying to get it later so when I saw 5:45 pm I grabbed it. I thought that the 4:45 pm would have automatically cancelled but it didnt, and the same thing happened with our Plaza res. ? Shouldnt they have that built into their software ? Otherwise what would stop people from having multiple ressies for the same day until they decide what they want closer to the date? Or is that what I should have done in the first place....lol ?

Last year I got our Be Our Guest reservation less than 2 weeks from arrival. I checked 2-5 times a day. You never know when they are going to pop up. I just recently changed a BOG reservation from 6 to 4 people so some one looking for a reservation for 2 probably got one. A lot of people cancel closer to their dates as there is now a fee if you are a no show for all of Disney.

As far as keeping 2 reservations---I have been switching things around for our Sept/Oct trip as well and I have been stopped at every single reservation though my changes were all by maybe 15 minutes to a half hour. Maybe because you were outside of an hour it did not catch it. The website also said that it would not cancel my first reservation until I accepted the second.

I think that as soon as a person cancels a reservation it goes back into the system more or less, so there is no right time to check. You would have to check multiple times a day because you just never know. People do cancel all the time though, even for the really hard to get ones like CRT and BOG.

You should subscribe to the cancellation boards. People post when they are going to cancel an ADR and you may be able to coordinate it so that you pick up the ADR when they let it go.

Now i'm really confused:confused3 .When we booked our trip we chose the end of Sept for 2 reasons. First it was food and wine and we thought it would be fun to try that. Secondly we thought the crowds would be more tolerable based on everrything I've read. Im starting to wonder if that is the case ?? I just looked at CRT for all of June July Aug Sept and Oct using the multiple days search site. Plenty of availability ofr June July Aug and the first 2 weeks of Sept. Then nothing, not a single day. Doesnt that mean it is going to be busier ? Or am I missing something ?

I think it is the Free Dining. It is clogging up the system with everyone who booked taking advantage of it. I'm hoping a lot of people will cancel before their final payments are due and/or the week of or before our vacation. It was easier to book 3 months out for our May trip than 6 months out for this trip.

I did also notice the dining system is letting me hold multiple reservations for the same time period.

Hadnt thought of the free dining. But when people stay on property normally dont they usually book mostly on property dining anyway ? Again, I feel like Im missing something. Or does the free dining bring in alot more people and then make it alot more crowded ? And isnt free dining right from the end of Aug so wouldnt that time period be pretty booked too ?
Sorry if these are all obvious to some of you....lol...I feel like im in a maze looking for the exit :)
Wierd about the multiple ressie stuff. I just finished reading threads where the system acc'd to the posters isnt supposed to allow that like Deakam said. But it definitely seems to be happening !

People who stay on site and normally only do 1-2 TS a trip, with free dining can do a TS every day of their trip. Thus resulting in ADR's booking up faster.

Ok now I understand. For the most part we are table service people in that we usually do a fairly decent restaurant every 2nd day or so of a normal trip. For our non disney days we'll be booking Roy's, Christini's, Bull and Bear, etc. So I didnt really see the logistics. I just assumed that there would be perhaps more people going doing what they would normally do but saving money doing it.

Thanks for the insight :)

I am going in December. What I have done is figured the last possible time someone who booked a reservation can pay up and I'm going to start within a week of that that date seriously looking for cancelled reservations.
