Just curious. Heard Jazz was good, but seems it's only preferred.

If not, can I request NOT to be in a certain building (really don't like country music and the kitsch associated with it):goodvibes

I phoned in to ask about rooms last week, and the CM told me I could only get Jazz if I had booked a preferred room.

HI there,

I called my request in last week and asked for Jazz... my preference was accepted and noted with no problems. Maybe call back and ask another CM?

Broadway is good.

The one with the cowboy boots it the furtherst away. I think its County Fair?

I'm not surpised that they are making Jazz preferred, they are following the way of Pop and ASmo. Since they have done this I have done something I've never done in over 30 trips. I now travel off site to eat and shop. I feel that Disney is starting to nickel and dime us with preferred rooms. I remember when the buildings by the lobby weren't charging $12 extra. Fine put me in the back, its easier for me to go to my car and have a better meal at a cheaper price than get something from the food court. Logan's is a great choice! On I92 there is anything you could want.

I didn't want to stay in the Jazz rooms anyhow since that's where the family suites are and I was worried about noise :) I requested either broadway or rock. The theming inside the rooms will not be much different. It's only for the icons on the outside of the buildings.

When i called the cm told me that only calypso was preferred and that all the suites were in calypso also! Maybe they have changed somthing? :confused3

They were right and wrong. Only Calypso is preffered is correct. Those two buildings right now are the only ones that are preferred.

Since the jazz buildings have been renovated, they have also contained family suites. As far as I know, none of the other buildings have the family suites after being renovated.

You are correct that only the Calypso building are preferred unless they have
recently (in the last 30 days or so ) changed it.

The Family Suites are located in the Calypso and Jazz Inn Buildings.

Calypso Building 1 has 32 suites
Calypso Building 10 has 54 suites
Jazz Inn Building 2 has 52 suites
Jazz Inn Building 9 has 54 suites

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The Calypso, Jazz, and buildings are completed and the last I heard (early May) they were working on the Rock Inn Buildings. Once Rock Inn is finished they will refubish the Country buildings. They should be finished the end of this month. (June 2007)

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Tried a different CM, she let me request Jazz no problem! Only, are is that building gonna be loud now that it's family suites? Does that make a difference?

probably quiet.

a suite took up 2 rooms - so less rooms.

Yeah but if the suites are filled they're almost guaranteed to have a bunch of kids in them! We took our chances with a farther building. We rent a car anyhow so it's more beneficial for us to be near the parking lot. If we want to refill our mugs we stop off in the "check in" parking for a couple of minutes on our way in and out.. or just enjoy the walk from our room :)

I would like to like to point out that 2 rooms will sleep 8 guests and up to 2 little ones under the age of 3.

The Family Suites sleep 6 people and up to 1 little one under the age of 3.

Also groups that have more than 2 adults in them like that the fact that the Family Suites do not charge an extra adult fee. The regular value rooms are charged $10 extra night per extra adult if there are more than 2 adults in the room.
1-6 adults can sleep in the Family Suites for the same set price!

Plus when DH and I stayed there it was just the 2 of us.
We enjoyed having the living area to relax in after a day at the parks before we retired for the night.

So I think things will even out pretty evenly.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

I am glad Calypso is only preferred. After being unable to get standard connecting rooms at the Wilderness Lodge I booked All Star Music preferred rooms and requested connecting rooms.
