Is the Yorkshire County Fish Shop always this popular?

The two times I went to Epcot this month I saw a long line to order Fish & Chips at the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the United Kingdom Pavilion. Now both times when I walked by it was after 11:00 AM when World Showcase had just opened so maybe that was the reason, however it was not apart of the 30% off counter service locations at various times. So could it have been because of Free Dining or is the Fish & Chips from there that good and the reason for the long lineups?

We've always enjoyed the fish and chips there. We usually get them just before Illuminations then find a spot near a rail with a good view just behind the Rose and Crown to watch the show. Almost as good as the ones from St Andrews Fish & Chips in Scarborough...lol.

We couldn't believe that there was a line waiting for this shop to open at 11:15 one morning last week.

We like the food there and I think there are apparently lots of other people that do to. (Gasp!!) I'm not sure why the long line would be attributed to free dining, but apparently anything food related can be blamed or attributed to free dining around here. ;) Contrary to popular belief there actually is some tasty food around the World.... :confused3

It is a tasty and reasonably priced meal option. We wait in line for it often. With $40.00 a person prices for buffets (Boma), Maybe more people are settling for CS.

Besides the Liberty Inn its the only place in the World Showcase that a lot people will eat at because it has the closest thing to "Regular American Food". (Well maybe Mexico CS)

Many people don't eat a real breakfast and are looking to eat an early lunch.

We ate there and it was just so so. I'm not a fish person so I just had chips. By the time we got around to Mexico I couldn't inhale whatever Combo platter they were serving at the time. Of course for whatever reason I am always hunger in theme parks.

While we were eating, another family sat down near us. They started to eat and then I heard in a very British accent.

We came 4,000 miles to eat Fish and Chips in the rain.

Last summer I tried the fish shop for the first time. Even though there was a huge thunder/lightening storm with torrential rain, I stood there in line wondering why....Well, I ordered the fish and chips and a glass of Guinness...one of the best counter meals I've had!!!! Now, it will be a "must do" along with a few others.....:yay:

I love the Fish & Chips, and seems like alot of other people do as well because there is usually a line.

1) The fish-and-chips is actually a very tasty meal. *
2) And improved even more with a Guinness.
3) With the downturn in TS quality, CS locations are getting busier.
4) Especially the better ones.

* And, you don't have the yucky grain buns on the burgers.

IMHO, the Fish and Chips from the take-out window are better and hotter than the meal inside the R&C and less expensive for a smaller, but adequate portion.

I like Guinness, too, but I prefer Bass ale with my F&C. ;)

In my experience, the fish & chips from the window service is even better than what is served inside at Rose & Crown. It was hotter, fresher, and more crispy.:earsboy:

There was quite a line when we were there the first week of September as well. I did enjoy the food, it was really tasty. However it did not sit well. It was just too hot to be eating anything deep fried for me. YMMV.:)

Is this QS shop still open?
I was looking forward to some fish and chips and a beer for my September trip, but I don't see it listed on the Disney Parks site today.

We have eaten here several times and it is very good. There is usually a decent line, but I think it always moved at a very good pace.
