Is The Wishes Dessert Party Worth The Money?

Now that the Wishes dates have been extended I've been thinking about getting reservations for my family. I've read its $17.99 a person? Or has the price risen?
Also, is it worth the money you're putting out? The desserts look really rich and filling and I was wondering how many desserts you could actually eat at one time. It would seem to be a waste of money to only eat 3 or 4 desserts and be too full to eat anymore. Or are they small enough where you can enjoy a big variety of what is offered? Any input is welcome I would love to hear about past experiences with the party! Thanks in advance :)

That is not the correct price. For adults it's something like $23 including tax, about $12 for children (3-9). DDP is not accepted.

For us--it would not be worth it. We are going on a night where Spectro is showing and you cant see Spectro from here.

There are 7 of us in our party--2 are diabetic--
$23.00 can buy at least 4 desserts/snacks during our week so they are eatern further apart.

Someday--maybe when the GD is older we can do this. For now--sigh --I have to put it on the back burner.

Was wondering about something and if anybody could help me out I would appreciate it! Dessert Party sounds wonderful and we would love to do it, however, our plan is to watch Spectro then go see Wishes. What time does the dessert party start? Would we have time to sit and enjoy Spectro then head over to the dessert party before Wishes starts? TIA!!!!

I don't know what to tell the above poster. If you pick the party you won't see Spectro up close, but if you stay to watch Spectro and then go to the party I think that is too late. You won't get much if any dessert and they tell you to report ahead of time. I woudn't do the party if Spectro is important.

We went last July and I am pretty sure it was around $15.99. My family went - me, DH, DD17, DD14. I felt for that price it was worth it. We probably didn't eat that much worth of food. But we had a good time and had a nice view of Wishes. As we were trying to make our way to the Dessert party people were crowded around the streets staking out their spot for the parade and fireworks. We were almost not able to make it through the crowd from Adventureland to the Tommorrowland Terrace. It was a crowded summer day. We would have had to stake out our spot at least an hour earlier. But when we finally made it to the Dessert party, we were in a nice, uncrowded area and it was so relaxing. So that made it worth it to us. Plus there is the "specialness" factor of doing something different.

However, with the price at $27.99 now, I don't think we would do it for the family. But, DH and I are going in August for our anniversary and I DID book it for us. For the 2 of us it will be worth it. I don't mind paying around $50 to do something special. If it were the 4 of us, it wouldn't be worth the over $100 cost.

I posted some pictures on the thread that is in the dining reservations forum. You can check them out there and see what you think.

DH had a plate of about 6 items. They are small, tart sized things. I ate one chocolate strawberry, one brownie, some watermelon and cantaloupe. I also had a cup of tea. My girls ate maybe 4 items each? If that. Just to give you an idea. I'm sure, however, that were were people who did indeed get their money's worth of food. Some people really loaded up their plates!! You can get however much you want since it is a buffet. Although selection kind of went down as the hour drew to an end. They didn't replace the food as much near the end.

We did the Wishes Dessert Party in May and really liked it. Here is a picture of one side of the dessert table...

It is an excellent spot to watch the fireworks and don't miss Tinkerbell flying right over you. For more pics of the fireworks and dessert party, go to the Trip Report link below.

We went last month and for us it was worth it. 3 adults. The party runs 9p - 10:30p with the parade at 9, fireworks at 10, and possibly another parade at 11. You are encouraged to be at the restaurant by 8:45. They check you in and give you a wristband, then start seating at 9. It's not like restaurant ADRs - you really do have a reserved table with your name on it so seating went very quickly.

We did not get a clear view of the parade but we still got a pretty good look at most of the floats. The desserts themselvers were lovely, kind of 2-bite sized. Over the course of more than an hour I promise we ate more than 3 or 4. Of each. Of course, we'd had a very large very late lunch and then sort of skipped dinner........ While the beverages did not include soda pop, it was nice to have ice-cold unlimited iced tea or milk on a hot summer's evening.

It was a great view of the fireworks even though not dead center on Cinderella Castle like you'd get standing in Main Street. Having Tink fly in literally over your head was a very cool perspective. While they were not replenishing much once the fireworks started, neither did they clear everything and they did not immediately kick you out once the fireworks ended. You could sit at your table for another 10-15 minutes, have a final drink and a nibble, and let the initial crowd pass by before heading back out into the park again.

I doubt that I would do it every trip, but it made a great 'special experience'.

The price is now $25.99 for adults and $13.99 for kids + tax. (which is 27$ per adult)

As much as I LOVE desserts, I am finally thinking against going because of the price. It's a 25 min. party for $27 for adults after tax. With 8 adults in our party, it's over $200 for 25 min. If it was still 17.99 like it was last year I'd totally do it, but I'm starting to think that the cost doesn't justify it for us. :(

The desserts look wonderful and I like the idea of having an uncrowded spot for the fireworks...just wondering is this an option for the deluxe dining plan?

We did the Dessert Party in April and loved the view of the Fireworks - the variety and quality of the desserts was awesome. I felt that we got our value - the kids loved the chocolate covered strawberries.

The only negative to the party is that it overlooks the smoking area and we had cigarette smoke constantly drifting up to us which was disgusting. I would not do the party again because of this.

As far as the being out of the crowds to enjoy the fireworks and enjoying the desserts - it was great but proximity to smoking location wrecked the complete enjoyment aspect.

Thanks, that decided it for me totally! :sad2:

Thanks even i was looking for the desert as i need to set budget for it!

Yes it is worth EVERY PENNY of those expensive $25/adult tickets. It is buffet style and you can take as much as you want and go back as many times as you want. They also replenish anything that gets eaten up. There's also lemonade, tea, hot cocoa, and coffee. The unobstructed view of the fireworks alone is worth the price of the tickets, the goodies are just bonus. It's really nice not having to fight with 10,000 other people for a spot.

and someone earlier said you can't see the spectromagic parade - that is NOT correct. You can see both the parade and the fireworks. I'll post my photos to prove it:

the dessert party starts at 9pm, which is when the parade starts, followed by 10pm fireworks. the timing worked out really perfectly for us. we got up and got food (and more food) during the lull between the 2 shows.

here are my photos of the buffet selections and our goodies

??? Dessert party runs from 9 pm to 10:30 pm = 90 minutes, not 25 minutes.

We did it on a Sunday night and I did not notice any cigarette smoke. And I have a DD who is truely obnoxious about anyone smoking in her airspace. If there had been smoke around, she'd have growled and rolled her eyes for the entire time.

There is a restaurant section just "above" the Dessert Party seating area; they closed it and kicked everybody out around 8:30 so we weren't disturbed by anyone on the upper level either.
