Is the split bath worth the sacrifice of quiet?

debating between a cat 10 or cat 11 for myself and 3 DDs (will be 17, 9, and 7) I would think the extra sink would be a good thing for dinner prep with 3 vain girls (not me, of course!), but I've heard that these rooms can be not very private with the adjoining room, which would drive me nuts.

Any thoughts?

Why would you think cat 10 would be less private than 11? The only problem you might have is if it is a CONNECTING room. Almost all rooms AJOIN others (unless they are end rooms).

I am not sure that I understand your question. Maybe you can rephrase it to make it easier to understand.

Cat 10 rooms are exactly the same as Cat 11 rooms except for the double bathroom in the Cat 10.

I had understood that most cat 10s are connecting rooms and the doorway between makes for less noise dampening?

I heard that too, but there are a couple of Cat 10's on Deck 7 that do NOT have connecting rooms. We had a Cat 11 on our last cruise and didn't hear noise from any rooms around us. Our connecting this time with with family.

I was in a Category 10 once and it was not a connecting room. Our Cat 10 was on Deck 2.

Maybe you can make sure you ask not to be put in a connecting room.

I am the world's lightest sleeper, and probably more sensitive to noise than the average person and worried about some comments about connecting category 10 rooms (which is what we had reserved). I worried for nothing. We heard the people next door on ONE occasion, and it was right after they had come in and I think that their kids were particularly tired and cranky.

I think sometimes comments are made and rumors spread and it makes the worrywarts amongst us go a little nuts unnecessarily. I would put this in that category. There might be some slight increase in the possibility of noise, but personally I would consider it much more than offset by the split bathroom, particularly with four women in a room!!
