With all the news, espectially the booking fiasco

  • The sky is falling

  • I know the sky isn't really falling, but it feels like it

  • These things are minor annoyances in the gread scheme

  • With VGC, BLT, etc. these are actually the BEST of times

The rule of 4 is the change in the banking deadlines. No banking points in your last 4 months of your UY and no booking & traveling on the Disney Collection (except DL), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection.

I didn't realize that new rule had a name. I get it now. Thanks for the heads up ACDSNY. :thumbsup2

Just look for the thread with over 1000 posts and over 25000 views, you can't miss it, and yes, it's import to read each and every post. :thumbsup2

Could anyone just give us the short version of what is going on?:confused3

The short version is that DVC has once again "enhanced" and "simplified" its simpleton members lives by removing all choices in the self government of our points.

By allowing to book 11 months +7 days, they have pretty much screwed us all in the name of enhancement.

Add this to all the other "simplifications" and several members feel that DVC is in a downward spiral to becoming the timeshare we all love to hate. If I wanted any sleazeball timeshare, I could buy that for pennies on the dollar. I chose DVC because they were the "anti timeshare" Jim Lewis and Co. are quickly eating away at all that DVC meant to its membership. DVC was never about a cheap place to stay, it was about the magic. There are plenty of Orlando timeshares gutting the market. DVC was different. By time he gets his big promotion and takes all his cronies with him, ala, George Bush, we will suffer the consequences for many years to come.

Now now liferbabe... the change hasnt pretty much screwed us all....

It's only screwed those people who need/desire hard to get reservations at hard to get times, which is not most people most of the time.

For most of the people most of the time, it's made things simpler.

And I am NOT saying I like that changes. I think it totally sucks that some people are really screwed by walking reservations and such. It's not a good change.

Thanks Laura, I stand corrected:lmao:

If you like to vacation in September with DVC when all the rest of WDW is getting free food, then you are so not screwed!:wizard:

Pretty much the rest of the year you wiill need a screwdriver to get the bolts out of your behind!

I think that some people will feel like the sky is falling no matter what DVC does. It is too easy to fall into the trap of worrying about the boogeyman hiding behind a change.

Give some credit for attempting to reduce calls to MS, which we all pay for, same with eliminating the rediculous 3 stage banking windows.

I don't know, I don't live and breathe at every change that is made, I just book my reservations and enjoy great trips with my kids. I would like to think I am an average member, but reading some posts makes me wonder.....

Personally, I think that all the excitement over the 11 + 7 is over-exaggerated. DH and I generally travel at busy times of the year (with the exception of Christmas) and have never needed to book DBD to get what we want.

I definitely don't see where it places DVC in the category of sleazeball timeshares.

(why is this showing before the posts I quoted?)

Just enjoying the entertainment.popcorn::

Change is a natural part of things. Sometimes the change is good, sometimes it ain't. But you can be sure this latest round of changes won't be the last we'll see.

How has it made things simpler for most of the people most of the time? For those folks, it seems like there is no change - they made one call before, they make one now.

The only folks affected one way or the other are those booking "scarce" rooms.

I wish I knew what the hell everyone is talking about. :confused3

I am still happy with DVC )for the most part) so maybe I am not that smart :confused3

Not sure where you come up with September being the only time of year we will be able to get reservations.... :confused3 Maybe this is all screwing iwth your head??
(((hugs))) poor thing.

I suggest reading the other thread mentioned earlier in this thread, it's on the planning board.

SOMETHING WEIRD IS HAPPENING- my posts are not showing up in the order I posted them- Maybe the sky is falling?

All right, I totally missed what all the commotion is about. I knew about the banking changes, but since I'm ALWAYS in borrow mode, I didn't really look into the details. I didn't know anything about not booking/traveling the last four months of your use year. That does sound bad. Also, can someone link me to the info about 11 months plus 7 days. This is the first I'm hearing about it, and I would like to understand it. Thanks.

Go to the DVC planning board and look for the massive thread near the top of the page dealing with booking & waitlist changes. If you have a few hours to kill, start reading!

I definately missed something this week being in WDW and just returned this afternoon. If someone could briefly explain the use year thing I'd appreciate it.

I'm unpacking and want to hold on to this great feeling as long as I can!!! :rotfl:

There's a whole thread on this topic on the planning board, but in a nutshell, you are now able to book up to a 7 day stay starting from your check-in day as opposed to your check-out day.
