Is the room block discount for ALL room types?

How does the room block discount work...

For example, if you're looking to book at the AKL do they give the discount for only a certain type of room, such as a standard view room? Or is the discount applied to any room? I have some guests that may want to pay for the Savannah view, and others who may not. Do both room types get the discount?

Also, do you know if the discount would apply to the Villas? (I'm guessing not since that's DVC and technically separate, but I promised that I'd ask! I have a family of 5 that really wants to stay at the AKL!)

TIA! :thumbsup2

From my understanding, You have to be specific with the types of rooms. The discount only applies to rooms that are on your block. Think of it this way, if it isn't on your block, then your guests don't get the discount.

Not sure about DVC though

When I did my room block it started as all standard rooms. If you want a different level room you have to specifically ask for it to be added to your block. All room levels are discounted.

When we did our room block they said it was on standard rooms and when you book if you want a suite or something of that sort you have to pay the difference.

We were permitted to change the type of room and hotel on our room block several times. It's all based on availability. For example, our room block initially started with POP and Caribbean, but then we had a number of guests that wanted to stay elsewhere. If the rooms were available at the discounted rate in another location we were permitted to book them. They are given a specific number of rooms to sell at the discount price, if those are booked up then you're SOL.

I put all standard rooms in my room block but for all star music I was given the choice of adding in the family suites and I could have added in water view rooms for the Beach Club. All types of rooms are discounted but you have to specify what type you want in your room block. I am not sure about DVC though.

DVC is not discounted. If you're looking to book a DVC room without DVC points (which you can do on occasion) they might be discounted but I highly doubt it. But booking with DVC points gets no discount. If anyone books DVC (or anywhere outside of your room block) you'll have to call/email their ressies to your planner to have them count towards your room guarantee (which they do).
Hope that makes sense.
