Is the "Porch Potato" Still Around?

I am ashamed to say that when I first saw clapping Peter years ago, I thought, "How annoying!" But like Frank, he brings a smile to a lot of faces and has become a self-made Disneyland icon :)

I know a lot of people thought Frank annoying because he "monopolized the bench," but he was a really nice guy and more power to him for finding his purpose at that point in his life--because in finding his happy place, he made a lot of other people happy as well and it didn't hurt anyone.

I'm not going after Peter but I understand what you mean

For some Disneyland is the show and when people try to.....like force themselves into there show it can be a little main person syndrome which is I assume partly why some streams are disliked

Its also a balance, like once again not against Peter he is a nice guy but how many people can we allow to do something like this? Like if we have 100+ people coming in doing different dances, claps, songs/singing, catch phrases etc I mean it would get annoying if a bunch of people were having gimmicks

Once again not attacking anyone but I do understand what you mean by your comment

Its like Maynard at the Tiki Room, he was great but I don't think Disney wants every CM to make up a character for a ride/show

We wouldn't have known he was there if the driver on the street car hadn't been honking to the rhythm of his clap. Employees up and down Main Street clearing the way for the horse drawn street car were clapping. As the street car passed the Photo Pass Photographers, they clapped. As it passed other vehicles, they honked to the tune of his clap. Obviously he has been embraced by those who work at Disneyland.

Frank's silhouette is still framed in the window of the Silhouette Studio. Often the bench he sat in is empty which tugs at my heart. Sometimes I see someone sitting on the bench against the wall and I wonder if they know his story.

This thread is about Frank. I don't want to be disrespectful and take it off topic. However, there are younger regulars who have been embraced by park management and employees - not because they are trying to get attention, but because what they do is endearing.
