I read this in a guidebook this weekend, but can't find anything online about it.

The Great Ceremonial recently completed major refurbishment, so maybe the book meant that? Everything at the Polynesian has been refurbished in the last couple of years, finishing just this year :)

Awesome. Silly as it sounds, the lobby is one of the things we love about the Poly. Our first stay there is next July and I'd hate to see walls up all around it.

Thanks for the reply!

Not silly at all!

My DW and DD's kid me all of the time about wandering around the lobby.

In fact, they all say everytime we check in to the POLY "Watch Dad stop and "SMELL THE LOBBY""! :rotfl:

I prefer to call it "soaking in the atmosphere" :thumbsup2

Oh, yes, the Polynesian Great Ceremonial House is special!! I love the smell too!

The smell, sound of the water...music...a little bit of heaven a earth.

Isn't that funny...my kids think I'm wierd because I too "stop and smell the lobby"

we are staying at the poly for our first trip to WDW and now i will make sure to "stop and smell the lobby!"

I am another one that loves the smell of the lobby! actually the smell is similiar in all Disney water rides etc. it has to do with the special water treatments they use there.
I would hate to see the lobby changed in any way.

We just got back & the only work they were doing in the 'lobby' was right at the entrance. Looked like some exterior cement work or something. When we got there the left door was blocked off, & when we left, it was the right door. Didn't look like anything major. Although, they did have a pretty big leak in the roof one night during some heavy rain. Maybe that's next? Other than that, I believe everything is done.

Hi my name is Dawn and I'm a lobby smeller.

That is hilarious!:rotfl2:

I can't wait to smell it myself. I'll be there 5 weeks from today. I've been waiting to stay there for 25 years, and it's finally going to happen. Aloha!!!
