We are trying to decide if we should spend the extra for this or a character meal.
My kids will be 6.5 and 5 at the time. I have heard this is a great time for the kids. I am looking for anyone that can share an experience with me!

I took my dd7 for the first time feb5 and she had so much fun at sebastians dance party and we got some really great pics. It was especially great to see mickey and the gang in their pirate and princess attire. The only pics I don't have right now are w/ princess minnie and daisy b/c I haven't got my photopass cd yet.

In tomorrowland they had another dance party and they had games and family fun that was really cute but my dd liked going around getting the pics and treasure as well walking on to ride big thunder and a couple of other rides.

We took my DD last August when she was almost 6 and she has been begging to go back again this year. She did the dance party at Cosmic Rays where she got to dance with Stitch. We also walked on lots of rides and got to sit on the curb for for the parade just minutes before it started. Plus the special fireworks were reallly amazing. If we go this year when they are having the party I'm considering going twice but I haven't mentioned that to my DH yet.

We missed the fireworks to see Captain Jack. Next time we go we will surely do it twice so that we don't miss anything.

LOL!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Yes, it's best DH's receive information on a need-to-know basis. :rolleyes1

We were at the party this month on Feb. 9th. Everyone had a great time. The park seemed empty, there was not a wait for any of the rides (well maybe a minute or two for a few). The dance areas they set up for the kids were alot of fun, and they had a few areas in Tomorrowland where they could play a few carnival type games. The fireworks were great, they seemed to go off completely around the park, the parade was great as well. I feel that the best part of the event is that the park was very empty, it was as if we had it to ourselves. I would definately go again.:wizard:

My DS works for Disney and gets to help out at the Princess Pirate parties and he says all kids have a ball, and the people working it have a good time too. All the special events that Disney does are great and it is wonderful to watch the children's faces, young and old alike. In 2006 when we went to Disney, first trip for DH and his teenage daughters we did Chef Mickey's and Hoop De Doo Review they loved them all and it definitely brings out the kids in all of us. If you would like I could ask DS what age kids he has seen at the parties.

We went 3 times last year, and once so far this, but we where disappointed that they had stopped giving out chocolates.
Now you get plastic gems along with the beads (same ones as last year). Children under 3 are now not given anything as it is a choking hazard!!!

We love the parade and fireworks and seeing the characters in the different costumes, but we do not know if we will bother doing another one this year, we will probably wait until next year.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: IMO, there really is no need to know basis w/ dh's.

That's what it should be up at the alter, IMO. It should go, "And do you DH take this beautiful woman to be your wife .... and understand that when it comes to shopping, the children, the home and planning WDW trips, you promise to respect that you are on a need to know basis.":rotfl2:

His response, ":worship: I do! "

This way we're all happy right from the get go!

Disney employed son says go for it. He said your children are at a great age and will really enjoy it and there is so much. He also said mom and dad will enjoy it too. :flower3:

I would choose the party over a character meal. We went last August and the party was great. We were able to ride all the rides we wanted to with minimal wait times. There were many great photo ops and the fireworks were great. I would definately do it again if it was offered at a time when we were going.

I would also say the party is better than character meals (even CRT). The fireworks were awesome and the parade and characters were great and most of the rides were walk on or very short lines-- some we rode several times without getting off. We did the party on a "non-park" day so we went from about 4:30-midnight and saved our hoppers for other times. Well worth the extra money. :thumbsup2

This is good reading on the topic. Based on this thread we decided to go as a family on May 9th. I have not bought the tickets yet, but it doesn't seem to sell out ahead of time. We get there a week before so I figure I can still buy them in advance while at WDW.
