Is the Pirate cruise worth the money?

My daughter would really like to do the Pirate Cruise, but it's like $30. Can anyone give me an unbiased review of this event? Was it worth it? She is 7, and very outgoing, and still very much into the "magic".

Hi!

Although my daughter has not done the pirate cruise, I know she would LOVE It. She did the teaparty with Alice and that was FANTASTIC, in her eyes.

If she's still into the magic, I say book it for her. As long as she realizes you won't be there with her and she's fine with it (my daughter could care less...lol). I'm sure she'll have no problems making friends once the cruise sets sail, and if she does, I'm sure a CM will help her out!

My children have done it, DS9 and DD4 at the time, and they said that it was fun. The only suggestion that I have is it depends on when you go. The first time that we booked it (1st of Dec. 2002), it was cancelled because of the weather, too cold. The last time (end of Dec. 2004), again because it was too cold in their opinion, it was moved inside the GF. They did the scavenger hunt in the hotel and my children said that it wasn't as much fun as they think it would have been had they been able to go on the boat.

If you are going at a time when the weather is nicer, I think that is worth the money. They did allow us to get our money back if we decided not to do the inside hunt, since they had cancelled the boat trip. My children decided that they would give it a try anyway and after decided that it was ok, just not as good as they had heard about.

We also weren't sure if it was worth it when DS went when he was 5, but he absolutely LOVED it. He's 11 now, and I just found out the other day that a red bandana he's been dragging around lately is the one he kept from the cruise; the same one that he insisted wearing on his head for the remainder of that WDW trip. He also still has the treasure map (they only have one map, and I think the child who actually finds the treasure gets it), so this is a very special memory for him. To put it into perspective, he also went to Neverland club on that same trip and on another trip, and the Pirate cruise is the thing he remembers most fondly. That's also why he's represented in my sig as a pirate! :flower:
