Is the PeopleMover open?

I don't know if it this is true recently, but the ride was running empty when we there for cast preview on July 8.

My favourite too. I was there in early February and it was breaking down a lot. We had a laugh at the end of the ride when the voice over says this ride never stops, it had stopped several times while we were on it. I truly hope it can be maintained. I'd really miss it if it can't. I'm also missing the railroad. Hope they get Tron finished before my next trip.

As said before - it is not a cleaning issue. There were operational issues plaguing the Peoplemover before the parks shut down, and they have not been fixed.

In addition, I believe the powers that be have decided it's not currently worth the effort to get it up and rolling, given the crowds.

If the PeopleMover is close I am not going. :)

I have been very much on the fence about my September trip. I am pretty sure I am NOT going but the People Mover not running will seal the deal 😭

PeopleMover is a nice break midday exploring MK. We love it! But it seemed to be having mechanical issues even late last year. Lots of stopping mid ride and sometimes not running at all. Hope they don’t permanently shut it down.

I worry about this probably more than I should, LOL. It's one of my favorite rides in MK. I do not know the situation surrounding the closure in DisneyLand, but obviously they made the choice to close that one, there is no reason they wouldn't close the WDW one as well.

I hope its back up for my trip in late October. If they close it permanently, that will be sadly disappointing.

They closed the PeopleMover in Disneyland to create the Rocket Rods ride, a ride that no longer exists!

I do not think that is true. It closed in 1995 and Rocket did not open till 3 years later. Supposedly PeopleMover was closed because Eisner felt it was a classic attraction without the support to keep it open and was more a prototype ride that never became anything but a place to rest feet (which was not a good reason to keep it).

Rocket Rods was proposed a few years later as a way to try to revitalize the ride and use the existing infrastructure for an inexpensive win, but after a short time was deemed a failure.

I was there Sunday (7/19) & it wasn't running. Bit of a bummer cause I really enjoy riding it for a break & checking out Tomorrowland crowds (or lack of that day).

I'm sure they will eventually get it back up and running. The last thing they will want is a dead track just sitting there for years like DL has had. It's basically impossible to dismantle it because it is so ingrained into other attraction buildings.

As I noted earlier, when we were there for the cast previews on July 8th the PeopleMover was running - just empty. That would lead me to believe that they were testing/inspecting the ride. Which I do not think they would do if the plan was simply to close the ride.

When we were there in January, before all this COVID stuff hit, the People Mover was down quite a few times. I'm hoping they get it fixed before our August trip...I really enjoy this ride!

Where for a brief period today

Still a no go, and it wasn't even being tested
