Is the path from WL to FW open?

We are checking into WL next week. I had read that the pathway to FW was closed. Does anyone know if it is open or when it will reopen?

CLOSED. I believe I was the first to post a picture of it. We were there three weeks ago, and as we walked just past the bus stop, a semi-permanent sign said "End of Trail." We thought it weird until we crossed over that first side road to the other side and came up to fencing across the path that said the path itself was "closed for refurbishment." There was no indication of when it would open again; however, common thinking is that with construction on Reflections likely to start in the not too distant future, that path will be closed until the new resort is built, so perhaps as long as three years, give or take a few months. The only way to get to FW now is via boat, bus, personal vehicle, or skirt the fence and walk anyway. . .not that I would ever advocate such a move. :daisy:

They are tearing down the old River Country water park and building a new resort in that area. That path will probably be closed either forever or at least until construction is done.

We were in the Fort in February. I was told the path was closed indefinitely for the reason Deb & Bill mentioned - new construction.

I am certainly hopeful they keep the path or some option other than bus/boat. I think connecting the three resorts (WL, FW, and Reflections) would be a huge bonus for all three. Increasing dining and entertainment options all around. So I could see Disney doing this because it has some gain for them.

Thanks everyone. Are there any good running routes at WL then?
No. You can run from one end of the cabins to the other, then circle back through the parking lots. Otherwise, you're SOL. ;) I miss the old nature trail which I used to run daily when at the Lodge.
