Is the Nintendo Switch trying to become Nintendo's #1 video game system?

I just got a Nintendo Switch for Christmas and been reading more interesting info on it and with the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2 I think Nintendo is making the Switch the number one video game system. I am amazed with the graphics and design of the games and I can see why Nintendo is focusing a lot on the Switch because I think it will become the number one video game system for Nintendo replacing the Wii. I also saw that you can take home movies and photos on the Switch but how do you take home movies on the Nintendo Switch? Because I saw the camera button and it took photos but no option for making home movies. Another thing I discovered about the Switch is it is hard to find games that are priced $9 to $12 and when I look at clearance sales the games are always $30 to $40. If Nintendo would sell Switch games for $10,99 to $20,99 people would buy them a lot

You cannot record movies on the Switch, but you can watch them via a streaming service or USB stick.

So you cannot do home movies with the Nintendo Switch? That's a shame because on the Nintendo 3DS it had a camera that you could film home movies and also take photos too. I wonder why Nintendo didn't do it with the Switch? Thanks for the info Nayan,

Yes, the DSi/3DS series had the ability to take photos and some limited video, but the Switch does not. They are just different products, and I think the camera functionality on the 3DS was fairly niche.

There are games on the Switch eShop that are less expensive, or you can find good sales too. Be careful though because a lot of the cheaper games might not be that good (though there are many inexpensive gems to be sure, plus retro stuff). Also, you can fill up the internal memory so might need a MicroSD card to expand that.

I think Nintendo really has a lot of plans for the Switch because with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 this year might be Nintendo's biggest year. My favorite genres of video games are game show games and second being adventure games and I noticed that there are tons of game show games for the Switch like Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy but Mario games seem to be huge for the Switch and with the popularity of the movie franchise Sonic The Hedgehog games are also huge for the Switch. But one game Nintendo should release for Nintendo Switch is Punch-Out because that is one of Nintendo's classic boxing games and that game deserves a Switch release

Do keep in mind that new support for Switch may trail off as Switch 2 is released, though Switch has a userbase of 126 million people so it may see some legs. Switch 2 will also almost certianly be backwards compatible, so the games for Switch will work on it - that helps (note that games specifically for Switch 2 would not work on an original Switch). There are also thousands of games available on Switch - it has been very successful.

I would like to see a new Punch-Out!! game as it has been a while since they did one (it was on Wii). They did release a game called ARMS early in the Switch's life that is somewhat similar (though not really Punch-Ou!!). It used the motion controls like a lot of Wii games did.

So does the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 games mean that the regular Nintendo Switch games could go on clearance anytime soon? That would be awesome to see Brian because it is hard to find Switch games that are priced real cheap. My father loves boxing video games and he always wants me to get one for every video game system I have. I never even heard of Arms? Is it any great? I noticed that there is a boxing game based on the Switch based on the movie Rocky and it looked good but was not on clearance. But my favorite Switch game is currently Wheel Of Fortune and I always win on it
Thanks for your awesome reply Brian,

It could - eventually. As the newere system takes hold, games for the older one would likely reduce in price. The Switch 2 though is likely to be "backward compatible" which means it will still play Switch games, so a lot of your bigger games - like Zelda, ext. might still be regularly priced - at least for a while. Sales do happen though - so just keep your eyes open.

Arms, is a pretty cool game in my opinion, though I lot of people didn't love it. It is a fighting game where teh characters have springy, long range arms that you can launch and curve using the controls. The standard fist s a boxing glove, but you can change them. It's pretty wacky. I don't know that I'd call it a "boxing game" but it is fun:

With the news that the Nintendo Switch 2 is debuting soon I think Nintendo will see the price of the original Switch go lower and as I mentioned in my other post in this thread Nintendo will lower the prices for many of the Switch games because I think Nintendo is trying to make the Switch sell like the Wii and the Nintendo 64 systems because with the debut of the Switch 2 Nintendo will prove that they can outsell the Playstation and Xbox and try to compete with Sony and Microsoft when it comes to gaming systems

I would definitely expect to see price drops on original Switch hardware. As for software, because Switch 2 is backwards compatible, it might not drop as fast. I would expect to see that somewhat, but the most popular games might not drop too much, at least right away. It is unlikely though that if Switch 2 games have a $69.99 MSRP (common "next gen" price these days) that they will have Switch 1 games on the shelves next to them at $59.99 - they will likely need to cut a little. If Switch 2 launches with a lot of games, that will happen faster.

@DodgerGirl if you are looking for affordable games, look at secondhand gaming stores. Reputable ones will have consoles you can try them out in before buying to make sure they work or will be sealed and repackaged after being tested. Also, we regularly get games from our library. This is great for trying before you buy. Nothing is worse to some than spending $70 on a game and finding it into hard, you don’t like it, etc.
