We will be visiting HHI next summer for a large family vacation. We will be renting a house on the island for a week. I will likely be going through some level of Disney withdrawal by then and was thinking about doing a pre-trip night at Disney's resort. Here is my dilemma. It seems like it is a very nice resort and a very good fit to HHI but from what I see it does not seem like the extra Disney "feel" is all around. At almost $300 for a night just to get some sense of Disney, I am just not sure it is worth it. Please help convince me that it is going to help me bring a little Disney back to the barren 2 years I am currently in the middle of.

We loved the resort on HHI! We actually want to buy some points there. With that being said...we like to say it is Disney lite. If you are looking for some Disney to cure your fix without going to the house of mouse, not sure you will feel fulfilled. We just got back from the house of mouse and are jonsing already! Lol. If you were planning on staying your whole vacation at the resort, then I would say go for it! Since you have a rental already, I am not sure you would feel fulfilled for your $300. Tough call.

LOVED HH last May.:thumbsup2 The island and resort is a "beach" vibe, Disney CM's were very nice, great restaurants, biking, beaches and pools were very nice and the weather end of May was fabulous. Mid June through August is more crowded so plan accordingly for restaurant reservations, etc. Don't have young children any more, but can't say that at Vero, which we visited once before as well, or HHI felt a real Disney vibe. Both were great for relaxing beach vacations.:beach: ENJOY if you go!:goodvibes

If you are only able to stay at Disney's HHI resort for one night, I would say don't bother. The thing that makes the Disney resort special are the cast members and the activities. It's not so much the theming, which is nice, but not enough to quench a thirst for all things Disney. If you won't have enough time to hang out at the pool, take a tour, or join the campfire, then I would suggest passing it up this time. I would definitely make plans to stay there in the future, but make sure that it is at least 3-4 nights. That way, you will really see what makes the HHI resort special:sunny:. I think it has become Disney's new "Best Kept Secret":ssst:.

I LOVE DHHI resort-I'm sitting in the Live Oak Lodge now. However, much as I love it, if you want Disney and Mickey screaming in your face, it's probably not going to do it. The real Mickey feel is only in the topiary in front of the lodge, where Mickey and Shadow greet you, and in the Mercantile, the gift shop which, not surprisingly, really reminds you you're at Disney.

I would agree with Simba's Mom. I do think the CM always spread Disney magic pixiedust:
